Remarked on Friday how our defence has been solid over the first seven rounds with every win we have not conceded more than 70 points

Even Geelong kicked 72 when they beat us (WCE 90 something)

Jack Crisp has as last year been faultless and Maynard took steps in his disposal

But three big bonuses are Moore —nothing short of brilliant

Solid and experienced and learning our game better each week -Roughead

A surprise one is Sidey who edged out of mid by the glut of other options
fills a third defender role whether official or not

Any thoughts

Moore has been better than I would have hoped for - so long as he doesn't injure any more of his team mates. Howe has been more quiet than last year but is getting better every week. I think we have an exceptional group right now. When we're on song we're world beaters. Speed coming out is perhaps the only thing that may break such a good combination.
Its pretty hard to kick a tyre on a Ferrari.

With Moore and his on going soft tissue—-this guy in Germany apparently has
been a major reason for him getting back (I don’t know medical jargon that was the procedure)

Elliot was also involved in this too——last night upon hearing he also had Ussan Bolt as a patient with successful outcome

This is only an idea that if Moore showed signs of difficulties we contemplate sending him back to this guy and allowing Reid stays up we have a filler

Let’s hope that’s not required

The back 6 is humming along nicely. Darcy has been exceptional.

This time last year, our % was 105%, our back line had conceded 609 points (91.63) at 87 points a game.
Today, it's 126% with our defense only allowing 499 points (72.67) at 70 points a game.

Our goal kicking has dropped off though 91.87 compared to 96.68 last season after 7 rounds.

Get our goal kicking radar back on track and look out!

Yes stats show points conceded & points gained but in the 7 games we played the well drilled Cats and last yr premier -we have such a variety in attack

Confident we will blow a side out the water -Carlton are coming yes and to a real thumping

In the first 7 last year we'd played; Tigers, Crows (both the '17 grand finalists), GWS & Hawthorn.

Don't forget the impact of Roughead. This is the first time I can remember us having 2 defenders over 200 cms tall. Moore is in all Australian form while Roughead is the rock of Gibraltar.

I think roughhead has been the recruit of the season. I know its been said before but said without conviction or hindsight so kudos to you if your one of them who did.
the combination of him and moore is working brilliant and the high flying howe isn't relied upon to mark everything anymore although he would like to [did anyone else notice howe have a dummy spit when roughy went for the same marking contest and spoiled the contest again port].
tom Langdon can adjust to any situation.
crispp's run is a joy to watch but his decision making and skill set is not up to last years level yet.
Maynards long kicking is an asset as it helps us settle the defence across the ground, especially the middle. I would love him to hit a front running forward occasionally, that would be a serous weapon to his already awesome reputation .

They were just saying, it's the lowest scoring start to a season in 52 years. If we were kicking straight.... it probably wouldn't be Cool

Just think about that for a minute.

Purely on the numbers our defensive and forwrd lines are doing equally well:

Points For: 4th
Points Against: 4th

Nice balance, though pretty much any good team in the AFL will be highly ranked for both.

With Cox ,Mayne and Aish on the mend together with Adams they have more fire power for times when needed
