The obvious way to improve by at least 5% from last year which seems to be the common coaches view is to focus on and achieve kicking more goals than points every game; instead of the opposite which we do most games.

1 ) consistently kick more goals than behinds.
2 ) have a healthy list in September
3 ) Darcy Moore is still playing good footy late in the season. On field, he is the single biggest difference to last years performance and what we can go on to achieve this year.

some times I think, had we had Darcy Moore in last yrs GF, we may well have won the game. sigh. Surprised

Find places for Sier, Elliott, Aish and, perhaps, Scharenberg into yesterdays side and we have a flag-winning combination right there...

We are pretty quick to find fault with our own team but the reality is we have less problems onfield than about 15 / 16 other clubs. By the end of round 6, every club will have beaten at least once. We have had easily the toughest early draw and we are 4 from six. ...

Isn't this just saying that every team is mediocre or worse? That gives us a chance but if in September there are 8 mediocre teams that's still just a 1 in 8 chance. We need to be better than mediocre. (Not saying we aren't or won't be, but we can't be sure others e.g. GWS won't also be.)

Our midfield can certainly still improve but I’m not convinced it’s going as badly as a lot of people think. A very similar midfield got us to within a kick of the flag last year.

But WC are not going great either. Can they just say "A very similar team got us the flag last year"?

What I’m implying by highlighting that every club has been beaten, is that every club has problems. No club has yet discovered the perfect winning formula because thats the nature of equalisation and diluted drafts.

When you take a step back and look at the competition as a whole, we going pretty well. The challenge is initially to remain on track and then be closer to playing at our best later in the season.
I’m just saying we are in as good as position as anyone to have another tilt. This far out, what more can you realistically hope for.

"Every club has problems" is the same as "every club is mediocre or worse". Wink
Yep, the talent has been diluted across too many teams. There can't have been a 50% increase in the talent pool.

Yep, we're not in a bad position, but the hype is way over the top and can only harm the club. The injury lists are what I keep track of.

I remember us saying similar to that in 2009/10...

Six plus weeks later and this situation still needs addressing rather urgently.
I'd hope our brains trust is analyzing the guts out of all available clearance vision from 2019; it's the only real opportunity time-wise they will have to do a thorough analysis of all the set-ups we are losing at badly....

Our poor clearance rate has been a problem for a couple of years now and doesn't show any sign of improving. I'm hoping (more than expecting) that the return of Adams plus the continued improvement from Sier will help us win many more clearances.

I reckon both Adams and Sier will give us huge grunt around the ball, and the ground, Sier is built like a bloody German Panzer tank, hes gonna be one of the greats, I reckon.
