We play Carlton, Saints, Sydney, Freo and Melbourne
All very beatable with only Sydney being an interstate game.
Looking good at this early stage.

The signs are good.

I suspect we'll be favourites in all those matches, but best to take it one match at a time.

Looks good on paper Mason, but best not count the old chickens before they hatch??

Carlton will give us a good hit out I reckon, simply because like many teams, playing us brings out their need for revenge! Smile

Freo are going well too.

It would certainly help our cause though, if we could win all those games.

We'll be the bookies' favourites in every single match this year, whether we deserve to be or not.

I said at the start of the year I'd be happy if we're 8-4 at the bye. I'm looking for that to be at least 9-3 now.

Yes, they'll probably drop a game somewhere in that lot but I can't actually see which one. I just hope it isn't the next one. I hate Carlton so very, very much.

They're a reasonable chance to be 12-2, though and, although I don't expect them to lose all of the WC, Freo, Crows and GWS games that will be played away from Victoria, it is reasonable to think they could get through the home and away games with at least 16 wins.

Freo is the danger game for me at this stage. They're playing some pretty good footy. Will be very interesting watching them play Adelaide on Sunday arvo.

^ Yes, I guess so - but they haven't beaten us since 2015 and haven't beaten us at the 'G since 2006, so it would be surprising if they knocked us off with our best team since 2012 on the park.

Carlton will be a struggle - they'll throw everything at us. History also suggests that the closer we get to evening the win-loss, we manage to drop a game.

Saints - we'll win this. Saints are still a bit of a basket case and have injuries.

Sydney - Their only home win in the past 7 games was against us last year. Toss of the coin again because we struggle at the SCG

Freo - interesting game. We should win this but Freo are a bit of an unknown.

Melbourne - easy win. Regardless of the whole Big Freeze crap, Melbourne are rubbish this year.

So we should win 3, likely 4 and hopefully all 5 but I expect us to lose 1.

Carlton is a danger game unless we continue our hot starts, then it will be a demolition.

We normally struggle at Docklands too, but it seemed our spacing was better last night. Hence we might go alright on the SCG this time.

I actually think our record at Docklands is pretty good these days, its a long time since we played poorly there.

I have Sydney and the saints as “ easier “ games than the Blues and Freo.
I’m always cautious of teams who can score around 100 points now and again.
Sydney simply can’t produce a score and they have no outside run.
The saints have been ok but they will now leak big scores regularly without the bulk of their backline available.
The Blues lost four good players to injury this week, so they should be gettable ( and that’s before the kangas game )
Freo are finally getting a good return for their inside 50s. We wouldn’t want to be over confident against them.

If by “now and again” you mean once in 3 years then yeah, we should be terrified of the Blues
