The announcement of Elliott's absence is a surprise, but it's a bigger surprise that WHE has been fast tracked into the senior side.

Desperation. Should start him on the bench to save up what he has. I wonder what game time he can produce. Elliott in R1 was something like 56%.

Meanwhile, Dylan Shiel has rolled out the standard line about Collingwood having "probably the best midfield in the competition".

Elliott missing is a disappointment, but seems he'll only miss the one week.

Very happy we've gone with WHE rather than bringing in a Crocker or a Daicos. I assume his touch won't be there, but his movement and ability to present up the ground is very important and something those other two players don't provide.

Assuming we aren't taking any risks in terms of his health and fitness, then we've made the right move. A rusty WHE is a better option than Crocker or Daicos.

I think Treloar had ice on his right hammy.

Disappointing news about Elliott.

Can anyone recall him suffering a knock to the bum cheeks last week?

I only hope it's a cork as reported and not hamstring related.

The ideal (and probably fairer) preparation for Hoskin-Elliott would have been able to find some touch in the VFL for a week or two before returning to the seniors but I'm not opposed to this selection decision though it does carry a degree of risk.

Coaches rarely squander the opportunity to install very good players back into the 22 promptly after injury so this decision is probably testament to how highly Hoskin-Elliott is rated and suggests a degree of comfort on his physical conditioning.

Most likely we'll ease him back into AFL level football like we have done with Elliott and he'll spend the majority of his time patrolling the forward 50.

Interesting that we have selected WHE. I have faith in our fitness and selection processes: last year we began to perfect these. We did not select any player unless he was physically ready to go. I am sure that WHE is no exception. I am happy with this selection.

Shocked Shocked

It feels like we're much better placed on injuries at the moment, but that's just compared with the horrors of past years.

Not sure that you understood what I meant. Last year, we refrained from rushing players back in, despite the crippling injury list and massive pressure to do so. When players finally did return, it was clear that they were ready to do so. That is why I am backing this selection in. I would have thought WHE should not have come straight back, but I have faith that he is ready because of what I saw last year.

I don't think we know either way how well we're managing players. All we and the clubs have to go on are results. Our results at the moment are not the worst, not the best. Who knows how much of a risk to the players it was when Treloar and Goldsack came back? (BT: "It could snap again at any time!") Nothing bad happened, but that doesn't mean there was no risk. Ditto for Dunn, with the opposite result. Wait another two months and maybe the same thing happens anyway.

Hmmm. I'm real concerned about WHE coming in cold. Very surprising.

It's rare coming off a LTI that a player goes well first or second up. I think it's a wrong move.

There are plenty of fit match hard options to pick. Daics, even Wells has had two vfl games, Goldy, Wills, IQ, Crocker(Not that I'm a big fan),. Just see this type of a move fail more often than not.
