Just watched Derek Hine’s press conference and he said that he’s in the Steele Sidebottom and Tom Phillips league for 2km time trial and will be one of the quickest players on our list. Gotta get the pill first yes, but gee that’s impressive if correct.

Correction albeit a positive one. Everything you said quoting Hine was true except he will be a quickest not one of the quickest!

What a combination. Good luck to the kid

I have watched his package of hi lites not once but several times and the goals from just outside 50 going through above touch height were so
Stephensonesque

And while the draft is being discussed I was talking to a mate who mentioned
how relaxed Dekka was at the interview on John

We both believe the new allocation of Dekka purely talent spotting and Guy doing the money side has helped Dekka do the spotting talent and let the cost
go to Ned Guy team

A very interesting pick I reckon, but to say he is a long term prospect... hmmm.

The Tigers and Essendon were his keenest admirers, but his surgeon told him on Saturday night he faced another eight to 10 weeks on the sidelines.

The Bombers pulled out on Monday morning, but Richmond list manager Blair Hartley remained in contact and eventually let the Pickett camp know the good news just before the draft started.

I suppose Andrew Krakouer was 28 when we took him on. He gave us a great season in 2011 before a knee injury cost him most of 2012 and '13. We got three seasons out of Krak. 35 games, which could have been more if not for the knee issue. And very unlucky not to win a flag.

Pickett will not be available to play for ten weeks. Ten weeks! He'll be 28 in January.

Was Andrew always that short or has he shrunk with age?

I was going to ask how long it would take to see one of these players get a call up?

Well it seems the Dogs are going to give Gardner his shot this week.

For us we have no need to rush our selection in as our side is winning games

Would you wack John in with no VFL game or even a couple—even an experienced player like Roughead took a couple of games to know his environment

Plus the Daics and the Quaynor types maybe should get something for their
VFL efforts

Pity he's on the short side, but looks super quick with great foot skills, from his highlights video anyway. At 72 ks he probably needs a little beefing up too, but not much that it slows him down.

Congrats to John on being recruited to the club.

Seeing a young player get an opportunity at the top level is always satisfying especially in these circumstances where a mid-season draft has been introduced after more than two decades since it was scrapped.

I don't have any expectations, so if he can break into the senior side and have a positive impact then I'll regard that as a bonus more than anything.

What number will he get?

48 I suppose?

He'll be wearing 49.

Leaving 42 (retired) and 48 unused (and 9 too depending on Murray outcome)

Hasn't played VFL, bit weird after he was one of the best in the SANFL vs WAFL game.

Injured?
AWOL?

Can someone confirm?

Wondering the same - the Club gave him last week off possibly to accommodate his resettling in Melbourne, but I expected him to have been included in the VFL team yesterday.
