Who is your favourite Bond actor and what are your top 3 favourite Bond films?

Would you support a black or asian actor to play the part? Or would you like to see a female actor play 007?

When you look back at the lone Lazenby instalment, do you think it makes a good addition, or do you think it's a stain on the franchise?

The next film is due out in Australian cinema on November 11.

Roger Moore, the spy who loved me! went to see it with school, i thought it was so rude at the time!

Pierce Brosnan

and Daniel Craig

i love Sean Connery in the Rock and movies like that, but like wine he got better with age, i liked him old!!!!

David Niven, George Lazenby & Timothy Dalton were not good looking enough!

James bond has to be english (or scottish!!) and really good looking in an almost pretty boy way. and white! and male!

Lara Croft is the female equivalent!

Connery WAS Bond, Moore was ok, I don't rate the rest.

I read the Ian Fleming books when I was young, Connery just hit the brief.

Given that Bond is a British secret service agent, and making it current day, I'd have no problem with a Black Bond as long as he had an English accent. Casting a female in the role would mean a serious pivot as it's no longer a James Bond film. A woman could take on the 007 role, I'm sure the British secret service has many very capable female agents, but she would be 007 not James Bond.

I believe the new Thor movie introduces a female Thor, which has been already done in the comics, which is based on her being worthy to wield the hammer which gives her the power of Thor. That's about the only instance I'm aware of where a female can take on what has been a male character and while there's similarities and differences between the two situations, I cant see a female Bond working.

When someone wields a mystic token that gives them their power, like Thor or Green Lantern, race or gender doesn t matter. There was a Black Green Lantern in the late 70s but his name was John Stewart, not Hal Jordan. There can be a female 007, but she can't be James Bond

I've seen them all many times.

Recently started from the start again. Just finished OHMSS... It's just a weird chapter in the series.

I would have liked to see Lazenby play the character a few more times, but when you watch his film, it makes no sense. He falls in love, cheats on her a few times as "Hilly", then marries her... And if there's supposed to be some kind of order to the films, Blofeld and Bond dont recognise each other even tho they met in You Only Live Twice, the film before. (The order of novels is the other way around).

So is OHMSS a prequel to the Connery Bond movies, or at least to YOLT? Looking back, you kind of wish Connery just stuck around and had that one make sense. And you wonder if Lazenby could have kept going. One thing's for sure is that the production studio wishes the Lazenby Bond never existed.

Before I get pelted with rotten vegetables, I must confess that I'm still yet to ever see a Bond film. Shocked But on the second question, I think it's an interesting one, as it could apply to a lot of other film franchises based on a literary character (or not). In this case, I’m tempted to say that, at this point, the writers should feel free to do whatever they like with the character; the series is already well and truly in the "postmodern" stage by going back to the beginning with Daniel Craig and if they want to change things up by giving the character a new look/identity then I guess it hardly matters as long as it’s a film that’s interesting/fun and people want to watch it. Who cares, right? Would you rather a radically reinvented Bond, or no more Bond films because the well is dry and they’re out of new ideas (which I gather was basically the situation before Casino Royale).

But I’ll tell you why a "woke" Bond is probably not going to happen: these days franchises are all about nostalgia and catering to fans (see the latest Star Wars films as a case in point), and Bond fans have certain expectations for the character (I agree with Stui that ethnicity doesn’t matter so much, but gender and accent certainly do). So there’s little chance they’ll want to risk any backlash.

I’m not a massive bond fan. If nothing else is on I’ll watch, but I wouldn’t go out if my way too.

I pretty much stopped watching them when they ran out of books and started making up their own

David give From Russia With Love a go. That's a great one.

Just watched Live And Let Die today which is fairly good if you can get passed the plastic snake and the "one handed" man.

Goldfinger was good, I liked Oddjob. The Bond villains were the best.

Moonraker was also good, and Dr No.

Thanks for the recommendation! Might be a good choice to watch with my Russian GF. Cool

(I also have Moonraker on the to-watch list because the villain of the film is played by one of my favourite actors!)

Have seen every Bond movie made, including the two versions of Casino Royale and Thunderball. Loved some more than others but compared to non Bond spy movies, I really liked Bond best. To me the best James Bond was Sean Connery followed by Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. I used to watch them on DVD again and again until I reached the point of saturation! Can’t wait to see the new one.
However like everything else, I understand that I had fewer distractions and competing events & desires than what people have these days where Bond movies are not the be all and the end all of current entertainment. But I’m lucky that my 20 something son and daughter both love Bond flicks and are only too happy to accompany me to see them.

Who is your favourite Bond actor and what are your top 3 favourite Bond films?
Sean Connery. My favourite Bond films are Goldfinger, Goldeneye and Licence to Kill.

I think Timothy Dalton is a very underrated Bond despite only being in two films. Probably the most accurate depiction of Bond from Fleming's novel.

Would you support a black or asian actor to play the part? Or would you like to see a female actor play 007?
No.

When you look back at the lone Lazenby instalment, do you think it makes a good addition, or do you think it's a stain on the franchise?
Not at all. It was a decent film.

That's coz you waste too much time watching your soft-porn euro trash that's watched by about 15 people globally.

You need a good dose of testosterone otherwise you'll start wearing leggings because they are comfortable.
