Aargh, David. Now I have to find the unfixed version.
NBB should have clicky things to switch between "fixed" and "unfixed". |

'When asked to determine how much of the decision to terminate the playing contract was commercial, and how much of it was moral, Clyne said "the game doesn't exist without sponsors".' (ABC)
Not a good reply.
'"And I've not had any company come to me and indicate they have an employment contract that would actually have allowed this to occur..."'
So maybe if Clyne didn't want to "allow this to occur" he should have put it in the contract. That's if the players' association would have allowed it to be in the contract.
Castle and Clyne are a joke. Whatever happens from here on, they should lose their jobs. |

If anyone is interested, and for those willing to get around the paywall, this is part 4 of a 4 part series on the Folau saga. The first 3 parts are linked in the article so you can read in order.
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/rugby/the-prodigal-son-how-israel-folau-is-working-on-nrl-return/news-story/96c3f409b0b65d123622559dde96ff0f
Quite a detailed bit of journalism with a lot of behind the scenes details which shows how this was not just a kneejerk reaction to a social media post but more like a straw breaks camels back scenario.
Also covered is how he might negotiate a return to NRL.
Who said tabloids can't do decent journalism?
Whoops, thanks David, link fixed. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Folau set to seek $10 million in damages from Rugby Australia
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/rugby-union/folau-takes-fight-against-rugby-australia-to-fair-work-commission-20190606-p51v53.html
"In documents filed with the Fair Work Commission on Thursday ..., Folau will seek to have his May 20 sacking deemed unlawful. He will pursue damages including the value of his $5 million contract as well as the monetary value of other lost opportunities.
...
Folau is challenging his sacking under section 772 of the Fair Work Act, which prohibits an individual's employment be terminated on the basis of religion.
A statement released on Thursday said Folau had filed applications to have his case heard in the first instance by the Fair Work Commission. If the parties cannot reach a resolution, the Commission will issue a certificate to that effect, paving the way for Folau to take his claim to the Federal Court."

Update, AHPRA has now made the suspension indefinite.
Quote: | A Melbourne doctor who repeatedly called for women to be raped in online posts has been suspended indefinitely by Australia's health regulator.
The posts, brought before a tribunal, included comments such as: "Some women deserve to be raped, and that supercilious little bitch fits the bill in every way".
His suspension was due to end on June 11, but the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has confirmed it has suspended Dr Lee's registration indefinitely, effective yesterday.
"The Board has taken this action in the public interest to maintain confidence in the medical profession," AHPRA said in a statement.
AHPRA does not have the legal power to completely deregister medical practitioners — that decision has to be made by an independent tribunal. |
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-07/doctor-who-repeatedly-called-for-women-to-be-raped-suspended/11190246
Visa law is very messy, but if he is unable to practice as his registration is suspended, he may no longer meet the conditions of his visa (if he's on one) which in turn could result in being deported which would be a significant penalty for posting in a chat room.
AHPRA registration details
https://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registers-of-Practitioners.aspx?q=MED0001783903&t=YDEBmw8ysJYxKvTcPWz9
And here's the full tribunal decision that initially suspended him for 6 weeks that found comments posted online can and did constitute professional misconduct.

Folau sends explosive letter to RA over code-of-conduct 'leaks'
https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/folau-sends-explosive-letter-to-ra-over-code-of-conduct-leaks-20190608-p51vu7.html
'"I would like an explanation as to why recent detailed media articles about me have revealed aspects of confidential sworn testimony and witness statements from the Rugby Australia Code of Conduct Tribunal," Folau wrote. "This is blatantly unfair. As you know, the Tribunal hearing must be closed and private, and Rugby Australia was obliged to keep all information confidential.
"I would like to know why Rugby Australia has not managed to maintain the integrity of its processes and ensure that information was kept private and confidential."
...
A statement issued by Rugby Australia on Saturday night said: "RA has acted with complete professionalism and integrity at all times through the process in which Mr Folau was found by an independent three-member tribunal panel to have made multiple, serious breaches of the Professional Players Code of Conduct.
"While we will continue to respond to any legal action as required and will continue to defend the values that underpin our game and the work done by the hard-working volunteers, we will not engage in a running media commentary."' |
