Question Question

I, Nicks poster Presti35, am somewhat in shock. Than means disbelief.

I, Nicks poster Presti35, did not think that we, the Collingwood Football Club, would be sitting on 1 win and 2 losses after playing three rounds of AFL football.

That's what pees me off about these atrocious decisions, they occur when we've got real momentum and they kill it. Two 50m shockers (and the second included an atrocious play on call when Ryan had already ran at least 10-15m past the 50m mark without the ump saying boo).

They are allowed to play on like that for 50m penalties. It's one of the new rules.

It's a shit rule and it needs to go. Ryan had ran well past 50m at that point, and there was NO communication from the umpire until after the fact (common theme tonight). The ump is still required to mark the 50m point and communicate it to the players. He didn't, Ryan was allowed to run well past it, the ump stuffed up the play on call, took too long. Hocking was sitting in the stand, I hope he heard the boos.

No evidence whatsoever that Geelong is better than us. We should have win that game.Would love a rematch. This game however suggests that WC are the best. They were awesome tonight. We couldn't quite stay with them. I think that their ability at ground level is massive, and i for one had underestimated it. But it is only Round 3, and so much can change from that. Many of our players were down.

Did Darcey pull out of a contest with about 5 minutes to go?

We don't keep getting beat by the eagles because of the umpires!!!!

I actually dispute this. We got beat by the umpires in the last game we played.

We lost the last 4 to the eagles.
As for the GF
We got thrashed in the inside 50 count
A good indication of the state of play.

They are simply too big and know how to lock down our run. I'm afraid we will not be beating them this year trying to run through them. Since we can't beat them in the air either means we are destined to be second best again. But hey! That is what we are best at anyway. Look, the umps were shit but we never had control or momentum, therefore did not earn the right to win. Very disappointing, I really had hoped we had improved.

Eagles players were getting the ball forward any way they could, knocking it on, kicking it off the ground, and that was the difference. They were more desperate and determined to get the ball forward.

Agree about Eagles being bigger than us. Geelong are too, even their first/second year players. Sier would have been a welcome big body, but he's injured.

No, it is a long recognised problem of our midfield.
They don't run as hard backwards as forward.
It starts with the captain.

Pendles was quiet tonight. Treloar made a few skill errors.
You're right .... I don't recall many of our mids helping out the back line.

Our midfield needs to lift full stop.
We lost the GF because of the midfield.
Should we play JDG as a permanent mid??????

What role is Stephenson supposed to be playing???? I'm confused. He's still too slight at this stage of his career to be playing anywhere than the forward line. Even though he has the wheels, he gets shunted off the contested ball in the middle too easily.

How about some analysis rather than whinging?

Grundy played a bit better but still does not influence the game enough. How will he go against NicNat??

I thought Adams was the only midfielder who showed real aggression. The rest of them were too passive. Where was Pendlebury when the chips were down? Treloar? Beams? Anyone?

Cox and Grundy do not take enough marks for big guys. Mihocek played a fantastic first quarter but faded out thereafter. I don’t think Cox & Mihocek gets the job done against West Coast. We need Hoskins Elliott back. Stephenson was down on his prom and he could make a difference and Rlliott did a couple of nice things but will need to impact the contest more. JT was very ordinary tonight - would replace him with Varcoe. Hopefully Daicos can come good as there is a spot for him if he can get to the level.

The backline stood up against the talks but was beaten by the small and mid sized Eagles.

I don’t have the answer as to how to beat the Eagles but we clearly need to try something else against them.

Next time I'll just post this: We are not as good a side as I thought.

I analysed it... it was weak!

The effort was not there, you gotta want that ball! They wanted it more than we did... there's your analysis Exclamation
