According to the usual footy scribes, one reason the Cats are flying is because they have freshened up their team with the inclusion of four exciting kids, kids who are sparkling and have taken lot of pressure of ablett and Selwood, and Dangerfield.

The very disappointing loss last night, despite the utterly disgusting umpiring, got me thinking, should we maybe, just maybe, freshen up our team with some similar exciting kids, for next week. ? Hows daicos and brown going, and didn't we recruit a couple of very exciting kids in the draft, why not put them in the deep end now, against the doggies, as the cats did against Melbourne and the crows ? Should we give, say, Thomas and greenwood a rest, varcoe too, and maybe Stephenson needs a rest, hes clearly got second yr blues, been a shadow of himself of last yr.?

Why not play a couple of young kids against the dogs, learn from the cats, it might just be the tonic we need to get our season back on track, because clearly, some of our more senior guys are well below par, and need a spell inn the VFL team. It has worked wonders for the cats why not us ??

Thoughts. Idea Question

The main change Geelong has experienced is the restructuring of the forward line. Before this year, it was too one-dimensional and reliant on Hawkins performing and the likes of Menzel couldn't run and chase which is required in any medium-sized forward. That's why the recruitments of Rohan and Dahlhaus in addition to some young players emerging has helped in their revival.

We did a similar thing last year when Elliott was out injured and we left Fasolo languishing in the reserves and we played Moore in defence (when he wasn't injured). We played De Goey, Cox, Mihocek, Thomas, Hoskin-Elliott and Stephenson all in the forward line with great success and this was a radical shift to what we were used to in 2016-2017.

Unless there's a young player doing outstandingly well in the reserves at this stage, I'd be hesitant to bring him in just for the sake of it.

If anyone is to lose their place, it is a midfielder to make way for pace.
Daicos in... out ... who? Maybe Levi.
Stepho needs to go back into the forward line where he belongs at this point in his development.
We looked slower than WC tonight, but I think that was primarily due to the fact that they countered our ball transition and ensured that we had no drive into F50. We need to analyse how they were able, so consistently to pressure us at the contest and suffocate our ball movement.

We need to crowd their fwd line and bring our fwds further up the ground.
Slingshot running goals will use the pace we have and they lack down back, which we are currently not exploiting.

Our kids aren't good enough. Callum Brown and young Daics are our apprentice senior midfielders, but neither looks quite good enough imo. The other youngster, who may still make it, despite his poor history in the seniors, is Crocker. Apparently he had 33 possies on the wing in the VFL and was a key to our come from behind win.
