Varcoe started red hot against the Bombers, helped us get the winning score in the first quarter. Then played tiggy-chasey the rest of the game and faded.

It's my fault for wishing for some Rowdy Brown hardness at the ball, but there were moments when Callum didn't go hard enough and the opposition scooped up the ball. Wasn't just him, Thomas did it and a couple of others. They hesitated, and the Essendon player went away with the ball. Happened when we had two and three-to-one, too.

The inevitable happened, form is form and he's no-where near his required output.
Be interested in whether posters believe he can be re-worked to become an effective half-back flanker.
He's out of contract this year. My view remains he'll need to evolve if he's to survive beyond a 1 year contract.
