3AW gossiping about a rumour I've heard rumblings about, Grundy wanting to return to SA. Say it ain't so. My black & white heart couldn't take it, this would be the end of me. We definitely don't need another contract drama affecting our season.

Well, sad as it would be, I’m over nonsense like this. Players should just say it. If it’s true, the destination club better be prepared to cough up two first rounders and some for him.

I hope not, this would really set us back from 2020.

Either SA team would have to cough up some serious picks to even have a chance at us entertaining any trade.

We let Witts go to the Suns, who has now developed into a great ruckman, it would be a disaster to lose Grundy a few seasons later.

Nope nope nope, I do not want to think about the possibility. Let's get our season on track for the finals. I reckon this will gather steam in he media as the season moves on though. Especially if we're under the pump.

Jacobs is 31 in a few days and out of contract at years end. Adelaide would be mad not to enquire (even more so given they hold Carlton's first pick in 2019) and we'd be even madder to let Grundy go.

Wouldn’t be the biggest loss.
Ranked 13 in clearances.

The "contract status" thread says Grundy is signed till the end of 2020, right? No need to panic, then. Ned will just want him extended before the start of the '20 season.

Who would want to go back to Adelaide once they escaped to Melbourne?

I could be wrong but hasn't Grundy so far signed his contracts fairly early and without too much fuss? If so, I guess we'll know with some certainty one way or the other if he holds off till the bitter end.

My gut says that as long as we pay him what he's worth, or close to it - he'll stay.

Family reasons apparently. Could be Ned playing shenanigans for better money. We'll know later in the season. Like I said, if we drop a few more games and look like we're on the struggle bus to make the finals, we'll start hearing more noise.

Problem is he is a restricted free agent at the end of next year and we wont get to 1st rounders if we can’t do a trade. Let’s pray he signs early next year...

Only time I've heard about the rumours of Grundy moving to Adelaide is when Kane Cornes suggested the Crows should go after him as their long term replacement to Sam Jacobs a few days ago.

At this stage, I remain confident he will stay with the club beyond his existing contract.

Is this where the rumour started? Fingers crossed you're right. I'd be shattered if he left.

Pretty sure this has been around for a long long time. It’s obvious that the bloke has close ties to his family back home so the pull will always be there much the same as most of Brisbane/Sydney teams. This is a non story.
