I've always been fascinated with Ancient civilisation theories and have decided to bore you all (or enlighten you) with some information.

This is a very interesting video by someone who seems to specialise in this stuff. He's referring to an Essay published in the 60's which was classified by the CIA at the time and only recently released with 80% of it removed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu-sLX0FbF0

I found it fascinating. If you have a spare half hour, grab a glass, sit back and get your mind working.

He has a number of other videos on the channel if this sort of stuff is your bag.

And no, I'm not being paid to promote his stuff.

The Piri Reis Map is argued to be one of the most advanced written ancient maps that was done prior to the 16th Century. The map somehow represented better information on the shape of our planet's continents than what should have been known at the time.

Including apparently, the coastline of Antarctica pre ice coverage.

The Antarctic civilisation theories are a lot of fun. I'm also a sucker for the Flat Earth Society, though I'm a little alarmed that anyone takes that stuff seriously! A friend of mine highly recommends the Ancient Aliens series on the History Channel, if you're prepared to switch your brain off and just enjoy the kookiness.

(Another good one is the idea of lost intelligent dinosaur civilisations, which is actually – given the immense time scales involved – not completely beyond the realm of scientific plausibility, at least from my understanding.)

Some of this stuff is really thought provoking. When you look at how long Humans have been around yet all of our history has been since the last glacial period, the prospect that there have been past civilisations with a high level of technology seems very possible.

This one goes a bit left right and sideways but is worth a look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzbZJTqiaOw

You may need to rewind, I didn't finish yet. Wink

This one is sort of about maths. The Golden Ratio.

Then there's the question of how accurate carbon dating really is.

Radiocarbon dating is a key tool archaeologists use to determine the age of plants and objects made with organic material. But new research shows that commonly accepted radiocarbon dating standards can miss the mark—calling into question historical timelines

This one's also interesting, about the age of the Sphinx based on weathering to it and rocks nearby that would seem to be water erosion, placing it thousands of years older than currently thought.

This sort of follows on from the weathering of the Sphinx, recent discoveries of a lake and river network in what's now the Sahara desert, which was apparently a verdant forest area 5000 years ago and became desert very quickly over a couple of hundred years.

Lots of different independent scientific studies referenced together which corroborate each other after the fact.
