Our midfield lost this game, it just isn't the type of midfield that physically intimidates the opposition. All of Geelong's no name mids never let up, we didn't even try to rough them physically and impose our will. We look to be a very soft midfield group and when our skills are off the mark like they were today they look no better or worse than an inferior midfield like Geelong's. I know it is round one but when crunch time comes I don't have any real confidence in their ability to get the job done. The Tiger's next week will eat us alive if we bring that basketball game.

| Phillips disposal is pathetic, Vfl till it improves , not good enough, once again the old back n sideways throw in a very lose zone and the result is a loss , thought we wouldve learnt our lesson after great yr of attacking football in 18 , or is it back to the future 15,16 ,17 ? |

Thanks the heavens for someone who noticed that Mason spent quite a deal of time in the backline!! I also thought he did well when in the ruck.
I think you're spot on MTTM, in that our fast, handball game will need a bit of real game practice to come back to its best. I have confidence that it will, as long as the boys themselves don't lose confidence in it. |

Treloar looked to have made inroads in cleaning up his disposal prior to being injured last season but ever since his return and again tonight it's been horrid.
Phillips needs to find far more composure with ball in hand.
Rushes all to often and his disposal is subpar.
He had that purple patch in the first half of last season when he gained big numbers and had 6 30+ disposal games.
In the remaining 15 games though he only had 1 and as people have said he needs to find it 40 times to just get 20 effective disposals.

They should be feeling lousy; they just got pantsed by a team with 6 [count 'em] debutants, some first gamers. L-A-Z-Y: spells lazy.
Now when you factor in their half arsed efforts in the two JLT games against a putrid Freo and desperate Carlton, it shouldn't come as any surprise to witness the abysmal level of disposal on display tonight.
