All they need to do is order the picks in order of when the team lost a spot and a position became available.

No good having a team that lost a player in March getting the second last pick when teams who lost a player yesterday will get early picks. It's not that teams fault that they are doing well.

At the time we lost Dunn, we would have had a top 3 pick. Now we have, what, pick 15?

Anyway, I think we draft for now. So either a back up ruck man or an older player that can come in if disaster strikes, or at least provide some leadership in the VFL.

But clubs are reluctant to draft someone unless they know they'll want him on the list next year (because under the rules it costs them money if they don't)...

Well then forget about it.

Dunkley will be gone. He's the best available.

Ajang, Eastland and Ben Kelly will probably be gone by our pick.

I liked Luke Strnadica as a back up ruck option. But thats only for a "break glass incase of emergency" thing.

Not many older guys nominated, Barlow is the only one that comes to mind, and he will not be offered a deal to stay on.

So maybe we pass? But is it an opportunity to find something? Is it an opportunity to find a quick fill for half a year? Do the Liston/Sandover/Magarey medallists make it at AFL level? Should we take someone that is a chance at one of those medals?

And of course there was talk that we'd be able to replace Murray before the season started. ADASA had not done anything. Now we're at the mid season draft, and still nothing? Is he suspended or not??

- If an inactive, injured player is fit to play before the season ends, a club can apply to return that player to the primary list in place of another long-term injured player

- Players who have committed to another year with a Northern or Next Generation Academy are ineligible

- A delisted player can't be re-selected by the same club in the period following their delisting

- Players must submit their contract terms when nominating

- A player on a short-term contract ending on October 31 the same year receives a minimum of $50,000, with a further $20,000 if they are not re-signed or picked up as a delisted free agent

- A player on a contract that ends on October 31 the following year is subject to the same terms as any other player

- An AFL club can re-sign a player as per the current rookie-list rules, otherwise the player becomes a delisted free agent

- The AFL will send the full nomination list to all AFL clubs and state league bodies

- An AFL club must pay 50 per cent of any advance payments to a drafted player's previous club before they are eligible to play a game

- Drafted players who stay in their original state cannot play against their former club unless all parties agree

- A player can return to their former club for finals if their services are no longer required by the AFL club that drafts them"

Well it's a bit unfair that they get no compensation, but you cant deny these players a chance to play AFL either.

Should be proud that your club is good enough to produce AFL tallant.

I dont know how to find a fair compensation? Do we loan a player to them or something?
