The more in the market place the more preferable players will be plucked

Who's the player(s) that some are concerned will be drafted to save a pick in the end of season draft?
Some commentators are concerned the mid-season draft will be used for other than its intended purpose. |

Not sure how it could be but I’m no expert. All nominees for mid- season draft have to have nominated in either of two previous drafts so it’s not like recruiters didnt get a chance to select them prior _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

The theory is that some kids who missed out last year and are performing well now, could be picked up and banked now instead of using a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the national draft, giving them a head start on next year and saving draft picks.

So be suspicious of anyone picking up 18-19 year olds I guess. |

It will definitely happen. I don't think many teams will be looking for players to make an immediate impact. For the good teams it's almost impossible for a player to get to the level in time, for weaker teams whose season is just about over, do they really want to try and improve? Clubs will be looking more to the longer than shorter term I'd think.
Not a big fan of this draft, especially because again bottom teams are given first look. Uncovering these types was a way for better teams to pick up good players later in the National draft (Liam Ryan, Tim Kelly, Langdon, Phillips). The midseason draft is just diluting the talent pool in the later draft and further concentrating it towards the rubbish clubs. _________________ Well done boys! |

Not really unless blatant draft tampering can be established.
Any players taken in the mid season draft were old enough to be eligible for last years draft and clubs have had the chance to take any of these players in the national, rookie or preseason drafts since.
The clubs including our own had ample opportunity to identify talent worthy of a list spot in this period and if they miss out now on someone they really like it's just bad luck or poor list management. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

^^Or changing situations or any other possibility.
The fact that there have been a number of wins with over-aged players in the National and Rookie drafts shows these players are there. This draft just makes it more likely they will go to bottom teams than better ones.
It will be interesting to see if any team uses the draft to cover for injuries. That I believe was the main purpose for it. If it doesn't happen it becomes a little pointless. _________________ Well done boys! |
