Oh, no question he needs a hug. But also to not have access to lethal weaponry.

^I don't think that guy needs access to lethal weaponry. Shocked

Keep him away from Bunnings.

An interesting discussion on Joker and all the things we’ve been talking about in this thread:

Did anyone seethe piece on Joaquin Phoenix on Facebook about his older brother river, and the night he died? No doubt he’s an amazing actor, and it explains some of the darkness, really worth a look,

Nope! Loved this exchange, though:

– I basically can't wait until a year from now when people have to go back and watch this and explain why they were so scared of it.

– It's going to be like going to New Jersey and saying "Hey, remember when you thought War of the Worlds was happening?" [...] People can't [enjoy anything anymore]. Everyone's too panicked about the fact that they can only control culture. They're hitting the culture button because the power button is broken.

Time and distance is interesting.

I watched The Dark Knight up bush last weekend and looking at it through the lens of today couldn't get all the acclaim for Heath ledger's Joker. At the time it was WOW, now not so much.

I do wonder how much of that was related to Ledger’s death – everyone was talking about it being one of the all-time great performances. Honestly, neither the film nor his performance really did all that much for me, which is why I haven’t been rushing out to see this new one. It feels like I’ve heard all the same hype before.

Denzel Washington's Oscar win for Training Day looks silly. It must be easy to play a one-dimensional screaming character.

Look, it was probably groundbreaking at the time. It was certainly a massively different take on a well known character, and done really well.

Maybe there's just been so much stuff since then that it no longer has that special something

I'll watch the new Joker when I can, but I expect the same in 10 years.

Not a lot of movies these days date well.
