You could sense that they would win—-rare to watch any game with the feeling a win was certain |
i was only able to hear it from the radio - the first quarter had me squirming. If that trend had of continued it would have not been something I'd blow away.
Glad we didn't pick up any injuries - especially risky in the heat. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

The win was reached with no on field injuries during the game (to our knowledge)
Very pleasing was the way we went about it ,not so much in the skill but the commitment to the way we wanted to win the ball -not soft win
A real example of that was Elliot who was finding his way to match fit
led to Wills kick and knowing opponent would make him earn his mark
didn’t flinch and gaoled —-Beams did simalar
Commitment folks is one weakness we don’t have _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

We did what we had to do against a side we all expect to be well below us on the table with a large number of certain best 22 starters not playing
Add Beams Elliott Moore to that GF side from last year and Dunn & Scharenberg then I think the result would have been much different
I noticed they gave Hill a run with role on Sidey but he was shown up not running both ways when Sidey did
I wonder how many sides will after the GF last year employ a similar tactic to try and stop Sidey ?
We may be forced to play him deep often to make them much more accountable close to goal
Overall the players who are likely for round 1 all went ok to good and the younger players and fringe players tried hard and showed there keeness to have a crack which is a good thing
I don't know if it was just me or not but I thought our hardbness at the ball and contest far exceeded there's
Might just be early days but we showed a higher level of commitment IMO |

What I took from the game:
Elliot still has it. Very encouraging signs.
Daicos has it. Dont know how he's going to break into the side, but he has something.
Jaidyn is a freak.
And most importantly:

Presto yep agree—-they did what was needed and when challenged just went up a cog (they had more cogs if needed)
What I’m lovingly is Pendles nearing 300 games still has the ability to steady the ship with his silky play
And Sidey is a A+ grade —his either side of body disposal that good I have no idea his natural foot
And the kids. Appear to have taken the next step
I was impressed how they just worked on everything—seemed to have a plan B they could switch to instantly

Hunt? You are a game behind everyone else! (I thought Brayshaw was a lot more influential.) |

That was a good first hit out. With the weather being as hot as it was, it was a good result for the club.
Really pleased to see Elliott and Moore get through the match unscathed. If both players can avoid any more injury problems, then they should both be regular starters. Elliott is essentially a new recruit in some ways, so I'll be interested to see where he fits in our newly structured forward line that was radically overhauled last year.
Stephenson hasn't slowed down at all and looks set to go another level this year. Mihocek won't be a one hit wonder, so Reid will be struggling to win his spot back from him.
Think Crocker's going to be a VFL player for the most of the year, as he doesn't have enough weapons to do a lot of damage. He can find the goals when he has the ball, but he lacks something compared to our other forwards.
Tyler Brown has a bright future ahead of him, but he's still very raw at this stage. Don't think Quaynor is ready for round 1 yet. Needs some time in the VFL before I'm convinced he's ready to break into the senior side. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
