Leigh Brown looked a bit ordinary for a long time after he first arrived.

In 2010 I wondered who the imposter wearing his number was, as he was doing things that we had never seen Leigh Brown doing before.

He was probably the most improved late career player we have had, in my memory at least. If there was a Rising Veteran Award it would have been his.

Everyone has a role to play in a team. In a good team that wins a lot, the role players who are doing their job well, suddenly get thought of as playing well, when really, not much has changed.

Blair pops up for 1 goal, 0 marks, 10 possessions and lays 10 tackles in a team that goes on to win a grand final and he is a valuable player who led us to glory (and does all the one per centers that made us great). On a losing team, the complaints are that 1 goal and 10 possessions from a small forward isn't enough and he's too small!!

The same story can be written for Leigh Brown. Except that he kicked more goals because he was moved forward more to play a certain role, his stat lines are nearly identical. and it wasn't flattering. Less than a goal a game and around 12 touches a game. But he played a role in a team that had great success so we think he improved as a player (he didn't - we just liked the little things that he did because they contributed to success).

I can't remember how many taps Blair got?

Brown became the template for number 2 ruckman for a couple of seasons.
