It was a practice match and not even a glorified JLT one.

The end result matters little.

What does matter is that players like Elliott, Moore and Beams participated and our confidence grows they'll be available for selection come round 1.

Heard a toff being interviewed on SEN this arvo. Didn’t pay any attention to who he was but he mentioned they played a full strength side save for injured players and we did not.
We looked poor last preseason so I wouldn’t be putting much on it. Soft and Butter got through, Beams getting a chance to gel back in. About all we can ask for really.

Which uninjured players (apart from the X-men) did we not play?

(Crisp was also missing, but he is injured.)

The salt sets the dye so they keep their true colour. But no I wash red with the darks. If you use Dylon to dye something, you have to add salt too , to set it!

Ifyou swim in chlorine a lot and have blonde hair, it gets a green tinge! Shaving hair off of a twenty something barbie doll is not an option!

Next time you get new denim jeans, wash insideout in cold water with lots of salt, about 1/2 a cup, and they will keep thier blue a lot longer, and no blue legs.

Will cheap bottled Heinz do? (Or must it be Great-Grandma Rocca's special recipe?) The Club's website gushes:

New sauce for hot Pies

'... it was only a matter of time before Collingwood teamed up with iconic brand Heinz in a new sponsorship deal.
...
The club’s supporters can look forward to a number of benefits sponsored by Heinz, including money-can’t-buy experiences as part of the “Upgrade to Heinz” platform.'

Do you use iodized salt? (Isn't this a waste of the iodine? Or do denim jeans get thyroid problems too?) I assume 1/2 cup is the specified dose for the reds & blacks, too.

Well, that was interesting. Been able to watch the first half so far (the second qtr & 5 mins of the 1st),
Was hoping to find more stats here. Anyone got any? Know where to find em?

Stoked to see Jamie, Daics, & Aish play so well (more from what I've read than what I saw). I got the game from YT, but no 1st quarter, no commentary in the 2nd, and lousy low angle made it impossible to see much of anything.

But id love to know disposals, Goals etc. Was hard to tell how Wills went, anyone?
I didn't expect to win without Grundy, Pendles, Steelo, DeGoey, WHE, Stevo, Varcs, Shaz, Dunne, Wells, etc, thats half our best 22, and first gamer Lynch against Gawn? Everyone has the Dees in their top 4 & they were missing what? 4 guys?

It does show how screwed we'd be without Grundy, if anything happens to him our flag chances are gone, & I have us winning it at this stage.
Our systems etc were all over the place, but thats to be expected missing ten guys & having had about 15 blokes miss part of the pre-season with injuries.

I was worried we'd struggle in the first 3-4 rounds, & I'm still concerned. It will take a few for Jamie, Beamer, Roughie to gel properly, but I still see us top 4, especially if Jamie & Beamer can add 40-50 goals between them.
If we win 2 of the first 3 rounds put down your glasses & get the best price you can on us for the silverware.

But yeah, as others have said, our biggest improvement must be Goals, esp. in the 2nd half. We can't have 0 or 1 goal in quarters. Our no.1 aim will be 4-5 goals per quarter. We certainly have the talent to kick 20 each week, but only if it gets down there.

So any more info anyone? Especially on Daics, Aish, Wills, Jamie, Moore

Stay calm. things are on track, we just might start a tad slow... like last year.

I’ve often wondered of a game with two big mids Sier and Wills (seen them in VFL) and bit hard to judge the bona fidis of them in tandem in a real contest
say against a physical opponent like Hawks or any side for that matter

With at least 4 or 5 mids in contention would doubt they would double act in AFL

Thoughts?????

I hope he meant”depth”, “abundance”, “surfeit” or the like, rather than “dearth” of mids.

Think he meant an abundance —it’s the meaning more than word choice

It refers IMO the mindset that we play where best for team

A different attitude to the shredding MM way of things
