Quote:
Collingwood forward Will Hoskin-Elliott will have surgery on his leg on Monday, raising doubts over his availability for the start of the season.

The versatile goal kicker, a running player who is also a good mark, will have an operation on his iliotibial band, which runs down the outside of the thigh from the pelvis to the knee, sidelining him in the immediate term.

Has been relatively quiet until this week-end on the injury front.

Well, there've been signs at pre-season training that something was wrong.

Damn!!! Mad

Quote:
Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome is a common cause of lateral knee pain in runners and cyclists. Many can be treated nonoperatively; however, some may require surgical lengthening of their IT band to achieve optimal pain relief and a return to preinjury level of activity

Quote:
weight bearing on the leg (as comfort allows) is recommended immediately after the surgery. Crutches may be used for comfort where necessary, and are usually required for 2-3 days. Patients are usually walking reasonably comfortably by 2 weeks and by 6 weeks can generally commence running.

Better that he miss some early games I guess, than some later ones.

Yeah I had it too.

Adjusted the bike seat and postioning with the bicycle physio and later with friends , using the round long thing to roll on at home (hello pain) and voila - gone.

For WHE sounds like a straight forward procedure with keyhole surgery (as long as they operate on the right leg of course)

Do you mean you had the condition (only) or that you had ITB release surgery (as well)?

Sorry, I didn't mean to be ambiguous. I didn't have surgery.

If WHE adjusts his bike seat while playing AFL then the'll be no need for surgery Wink

the versatile Hoskin-Elliott kicked 1 or more goals for ............. consecutive weeks last year, the longest run of goals for games in the competition. after the goals stopped he didn't look the same and im curious to know when this injury occurred. he certainly was quiet during the finals.

I just hope for the footy departments sake that its a new pre season injury.

Geezuz!
It really feels like one per bloody DAY!
What ARE we doing?
More important what are we doing ABOUT it?

Bet I can guess!

Sure we have depth, but we had depth last year too, & despite some of the most extraordinary wins, we fell oh so slightly short. Its hard to suggest we couldn't have done ever so slightly better with our full complement of players, particularly our backline.
What's our plan for 2019, given that we will be one of the favourites for the flag?

Hope?

are we DOING anything? I believe the problem was looked at last year (or possibly 2017), but no answers were released, or reached given the last year,

Obviously all teams suffer injuries, but for one side to lead the league in lost games per player for 8 years straight surely points to a systemic problem. I believe the hardness of our training ground was looked at, and dismissed. So are we taking further action?

Anyone?
