WPW. A good story—Matthew Boyd gets big wraps as a quality person from Rohan Smith (married my mates daughter)

And when I questioned mate at Cramers he also said “You have two quality
blokes “.

He looked a bit ordinary at the practice game, but then I'm sure Leigh Brown did when he first arrived at the pies as well. Here's hoping!

Leigh Brown looked a bit ordinary for a long time after he first arrived.

In 2010 I wondered who the imposter wearing his number was, as he was doing things that we had never seen Leigh Brown doing before.

He was probably the most improved late career player we have had, in my memory at least. If there was a Rising Veteran Award it would have been his.

I’d cut the bloke a bit of slack till we go to battle —the prackie match first hit out

When he went to Gawn he curbed him for a time but Gawn got back into game

As I said he’s a premiership ruck man who played a Grannie with reduced vision

I'd like more info on the vision thing... Was it just too soon and a week more would have been perfectly safe? Or is there still some risk?

K it was September 2016 a week out from Grand Final —apparently got something in eye which caused infection

After medical treatment he had to keep light out so he spent days leading up to GF with spells in darkened room

He’s played two seasons since with no apparent difficulty

Yup, and a great team man.

He can fill a hole a a KP forward or defender and also take a run in the ruck. So gawn beat him in the practice match, big deal. gawn beat nearly every other teams first ruck last year most times, Roughead isn't our first ruck. He's just better than most teams 2nd ruck.

They rated Western Bulldogs premiership team —a range from 5 to 10

Our two ex Doggies Matty Boyd (at 34yrs the 4th oldest debut player in a premiership side) and Jordan Roughead

Matty. Marked at 9 points
Jordan “. “. “. 7 points

Podsiadley could have been another if we held on to him

Nah. He went through a few clubs before an extended run at VFL level led to Geelong giving him a shot. Apart from mark Richardson, not many players get 10 years on a senior list without showing anything.
