Look, I didn't say it was a good diet, just that it wasn't Maccas only. It is mainly fast food with no vegetables, it's what a 14 year old would eat if you gave them an apartment and an Uber Eats account.
Despite that, he doesn't drink alcohol and doesn't smoke so he's actually in reasonable shape.
What's Bernie's diet look like? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I’ve heard he survives purely on Hegelian dialectics.
(Love that story, by the way, Pi – someone needs to get on to the New York Times stat so they can do an expose in time for the Iowa caucus!) _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Iowa begins voting in 30 minutes, with most results expected to come through at around 3pm Melbourne time. The New York Times currently gives Sanders a 35% chance of winning as opposed to Biden's 28% (with Warren and Buttigieg as more outside chances on 13% and 18% respectively). The result of this is a huge deal, not just because it's the first state but because it will shape the narrative in a lot of ways – Biden is a pretty shaky candidate who needs some early results on the board to back up his main case for nomination, which is that he's the most electable, and common wisdom is that that support will start to drop away if he doesn't bag some early states. Sanders will gain a lot of momentum from this if he wins, particularly given that he's odds-on to smash the rest of the field in the second voting state, New Hampshire, but a loss would blunt a lot of that. Warren's candidacy has been dropping like a stone in the last couple of months, but a win here would be a huge boost, and perhaps bring back a few undecided supporters who jumped over to Sanders. Buttigieg is pretty much all-in on Iowa and may as well drop out of the race entirely if he doesn't have a strong finish here. So there's a lot on the line. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Not that it means anything but Klobucher won in the Florida satellite caucus (Old Iowans in Florida for winter). |

^ No surprises there, lol.
Buttigieg is making an early running in the Dem primary, but Sanders isn't far behind. Further back a little way, Biden and Warren both seem to be underperforming expectations – a dead heat in third between those two and Klobuchar at this stage. I'm not quite sure how far they're into counting yet, however. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Ok, I just checked and all results being reported are super early – we're only talking 2-3% of the vote having been counted at this point. But early signs are Buttigieg and Sanders are neck and neck and Biden is tanking badly (Warren is perhaps doing a bit better than I suggested above – she sits very clearly in third right now). _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Even Kim Jong-un would be jealous of those numbers. |

Apparently the app (yep, an app) that the Iowa DNC are using to report results isn't working and nobody knows who owns it. There are also serious security concerns around it (and knowing the DNC that's a legit concern). |

Sanders campaign already using internal results collection to claim victory. Hope this doesn’t come back to bite them!
https://interc.pt/387msiN
Quote: | WITH THE IOWA Democratic Party unable to collect and release results after the Iowa caucuses on Monday, the campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders took it on itself to release numbers it collected from nearly 40 percent of precincts, tabulated by its campaign organizers.
The Sanders campaign reports it received 29.7 percent of the vote, closely followed by former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 24.6 percent. Sen. Elizabeth Warren came in at 21.2 percent, and former Vice President Joe Biden in fourth at 12.4 percent. Sanders put those numbers out shortly after Buttigieg finished his own, seemingly triumphant speech in Iowa. The party said it would release official results Tuesday. |
