Knox also calls the NFL the world's "most professionally run" competition... Hmm... Does Knox know or care about -- let's see -- suppression of info on brain damage to players, other health problems of retired players (obesity, etc.), racial politics, unfortunately questionable ethics of a great franchise (on ball tampering, why the heck does the NFL allow teams to supply their own balls?), etc.? The NBA, for example, doesn't have any of those problems, does it?
...

A reader comment on the latest NY Times ethics column*:

"While the current players are very aware of the CTE risks that they potentially face, players like my husband did not know what they might face. My husband started for 10 seasons and walked away on his own terms with his health mostly intact. We anticipated joint issues, surgeries and the like - but not the unraveling of a beautiful mind. I can tell you that money in the bank comforts one very little when you start on the roller coaster ride of dealing with CTE symptoms. The NFL does nothing but try to keep a tight lid on the mess that this is. It is not only ripping families apart, but completely devastating the men dealing with the heart and mind breaking symptoms. The chaos we live with, and the gut wrenching, heartbreaking symptoms are very real for many of us. I can’t watch, or support football anymore - we just know way too much. We live it day in and day out. My husband is only 44. We have 4 young children. I often cry when I start thinking what this might look like 10 years down the road."

And Knox's justification for gushing about how great the NFL is ("best sporting competition in the world") was just to argue that scarcity is good (so what the BBL is doing is bad)... I don't know if 32 franchises counts as scarcity, as he claims, either. I'd have to compare it with other things, I guess.
