I wouldn't consider Winmar a mortal enemy of Collingwood for that.

... or do you think maybe he was standing up to persecution? I think you may have a misunderstanding of who the villain was in that incident. It was us (at least those of us who felt it was appropriate to scream racists comments at him all day), not him!!

Still to this day, i am so proud of Nicky for what he did that day, given that it was back in a time when that wasn't done!

I can confirm that Jeans told him to do it. Odea at first said he wouldn;t and coach said if you don't you will never play for StKilda again. A better human would have said no. I was told thattby a life member of the Saints who that day was working as a trainer or something.

Geez, that's totally disgusting Mad I kinda always thought it must have been an instruction from the coach to make the game tough for Greening, but to threaten the player with not ever getting another game for the club. Sheesh - Jeans should've been banned for life.Mad Greening could have died or been permanently incapacitated.

Add me to the pro Winmar camp. Courageous action and a great player.

Football is tribal.
Without mortal enemies you have nothing.
There have been times in my supporter life when we have been down for a few years, i have detected some sympathy towards us or worse indifference.
When we are hated all is rosy.
So, bring on more mortal enemies .
