I wasn't demanding a suggestion, tinhead; I was suggesting a demand.

agree. The secret for when a player does a hammy is to make sure its a one off. Nearly every player tears a hammy at some stage in their career. The ones who develop permanent problems are the ones who tear it again immediately upon their return (meaning they were allowed to stress the muscle before it was ready for such stress). Shut him down is not the right answer either by the way. The recovery has to be gradual increase in stress and not a violent one. Cant avoid violent stress in a game situation, so it needs to be done smartly on the track.

Yep. I've done a hammy. Only once, and it's been good as gold since (just everything else on me breaking down lately).
I think they do tend to rush them back to quick, I wasn't back to full sprints for 8 weeks after I did mine, and it wasn't a severe one.

Always good to see the mouthguards at training. No mucking around.

I think it’s the player’s body which give some a dose and no re occurance
whilst others just get one after another —-be interesting to see if Moore can break the cycle plus the dual hammy man Treloar stays in remission

I couldn't disagree with you more. Most player tend to want to come back quick following a hammy because they "think" they are fine. I cant tell you how nervous i was for Adam Treloar in the finals..... That was a big risk we took there.

It sure gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to see our two ACLs from 2018 season out there doing the yards on the training track. Smile Sure hope they both get back to their pre-ACL form.

It's not our fitness staff or regime or training, it's a problem at most of the other AFL clubs too. With us, I reckon we should be looking at the training ground. Is it too hard?

Mr Miyagi, the club has apparently given this notion a thorough investigation and has come up with the conclusion that the ground is fine. Hardly surprising, eh? They could hardly say "Sorry supporters, member,s players, coaches - we stuffed up on the ground surface". Smile
After last season's injury record though, I would bet that they are doing all they can to provide a premium training surface Wink

Elliott fails to finish last pre season training session.
Walsh suggests it was a precaution just to finish the season
a little earlier than the rest of the group. good idea.
but afl.com suggests he's of for a scan.
Walsh expects Elliott to resume training first session after the break.

This is almost word for word the message a year ago. Now all we need is wheelie bins to enter the story.

Either the media is lying and trying to create a story, or the club is lying about the extent of our injuries.

I also think there's something wrong with the surface of our training ground. A few on here have already said that it's too hard so I wonder if the club has even looked in to it as contributing factor in our injury crisis.

"He said they try to keep the football in the players hands as much as possible"
-QLD MAGPIE67

Now THAT makes me happy! Ball skills, particularly chasing & picking it up, are pretty darn bad across the whole league. I found myself watching with mouth agape the last year or three, as guys ran after the pill, with NO clue what it was going to do next.
There seems to be a school of "thought", which says you just can't anticipate the rolling Sherrin. To some extent that's true, and it's more true as velocity DE-creases. A quickly bouncing ball is fairly easy to pick up as the bounce will overcome the propensity to move sideways. Once the ball slows down the likelihood of sideways travel & uneven height of bounce increases. But watching the bounce closely & keeping the head low allows a player to more easily track & anticipate the ball's path & bounce.

3 players who had this ability in spades, were Swanny, Daicos, & the incredible John Greening. The first two had the low centre of gravity which made their magic possible. Greening, as can be seen from the few videos of him chasing the ball, managed to achieve the same by bending his back so far he could keep his head directly over the ball. Ive yet to find another player who can match this. And of course this meant the great man could still get high off the ground for spectacular marks.
