The Collingwood Football Club has announced an operating profit before depreciation and amortisation of $4,174,492 for the 2018 financial year.

After depreciation and amortisation, the club’s net profit for 2018 was $112,052. This represents a $2.844 million net profit improvement on the previous financial year.

The result is the culmination of a number of factors; a strong season on-field from the AFL team which drove increases in attendances and corporate revenue, outstanding membership support and a recalibration of Collingwood’s business operations following a strategic review in 2017.

Highlights of Collingwood’s 2018 financial year include:

*Total club revenue of $82,074,011 (2017 - $77,736,469)
*Operating profit before depreciation of $4,174,492 (2017 - $1,545,562)
*Total depreciation of $4,062,440 (2017 - $4,278,186)
*Net Operating Profit of $112,052 (2017 – loss of $2,732,624)
*Membership figure of 75,736
*Collingwood’s net asset position is $32,690,470 (2017 - $32,578,418)
*Average Home & Away attendance for the year of 50,572

For comparison (not really):

Western Bulldogs' record $18m profit

Shocked (There is fine print, though...)

Interesting figures.

In a private business you'd want a lot more than a $4m operating profit off $82m revenue, but we are a NFP organisation and have $32m in assets so I suppose you take it.

No point banking the biggest profit and getting the wooden spoon, you want to be in contention for the flag and liquid in the finances which we are.

For comparison, the enemy:

"The Bombers confirmed a bumper $5.7 million profit (before amortisation and depreciation) and a net operating profit of $2.3 million in the year ending October 31 2018.

The result has allowed Essendon to wipe another $3 million from their debt, now totalling $4 million. This represents a significantly improved position from the almost $12 million debt the club found themselves in following the supplements saga."
