Okay, I could be really going out on a limb here and calling it a bit too early (!!!) , but I'm feeling a sudden rush of optimism about next season.
After the pain and agony of that last day in September, it's a welcome emotion.
Smile

At the very least, if all those players who were curtailed by injury last season could make it back to reasonable form, our best 22 would have to be improved.
(Dunn, Moore, Jamie, Schazza, Wells).
Add to this the pick up of Beams and Roughhead.
Add natural improvement from younger players such as Sier and Stephenson (no second year blues please boys!!).
Mix in a sustained trajectory from JDG, Coxy, Grundy, Maynard, Crisp, Adams, Mayne, Mihocek, WHE etc etc
Then add some really promising draft picks in IQ and Kelly, plus not forgetting the Irish recruits.

Lordy, lordy, what a squad!!!

Of course, that incredible team spirit of last season and on ground gelling has to come to the fore once again and they are probably the hardest facets of all to harness, but our coaches know how to do it now.

Okay .... I'm not getting too carried away, because I am a Collingwood supporter after all. Wink But two months on from the GF, feeling anything other than crushed is a miracle.

Lot to look forward to. If we go in to round 1 with a near full squad Geelong won’t know what’s hit them.

I totally agree with the above. We have to make up ground against Richmond and West Coast. We didn't get Steven May but we did get back Beams who is an elite midfielder we could have done with in the GF.

We drafted Will Kelly who is that solid defender who can outmuscle and out mark the opposition tall forward. I assume he won't be ready till 2020 but we have Dunn returning to FB who will help us out till then.

Quaynor gives us that rebound out of defence. Assuming we don't get back Murray, Quaynor is his natural replacement for 2019.

Atu is a lively type who gives us speed through the midfield or out of defence.

Moore and Appleby return from injury. Madgen continues his development as a defender. Stephenson and Tyler Brown have put on muscle.

We should be a much better team with flexible options at both ends of the ground next year. Haven't mentioned the two Irish boys who could be anything next year.

Great point.

Cox started 2018 as a smokey, a guy with potential and finished it best 22.

The trajectory of his improvement has only been up so far, even if it tapers a bit he could be anything in 2019

We desperately need a fit Elliot. There will be no double teamimg on Cox if Elliot is flying for marks and Stevo is lurking for the crumbs. We may have the luxury of Steele down their as well.

What a difference a year make,s with a review and some bold decisions

New people in but still a pessimistic feeling by the army —then it all happened

Yes we most definitely can be optimistic going forward—we are as they say

On Our Way
