Any love out there for Dan Menzel It's just a question so maybe spare the vitriolic attacks. I realise he has had 3 knee reco's but this years injury was from an injection to the groin that appears to have gone horribly wrong and by all accounts ,was leading Geelong's B&F after the first 5 rounds.Perhaps Geelong know the extent of the damage done by this cock up and have cut him loose. If he was left hanging after the draft period and we had a late pick would we risk picking him up??He surely couldn't be worse than Smith,Blair or Oxley. |

Maybe consider as a rookie spot for back up. But possibly is excess to needs.
Can certainly kick a goal. Averages about 2 per game. Which is probably close to elite. This is his big asset. A good offensive medium forward.
Seems to lack defensive ability. I think this is the biggest down side and why Cats have moved on. He can't affect a turnover. A massive part of today's game plan requirement.
He was in a similar situation last year, but was given a 1 year extension on smaller $.
Apparently 5 or so clubs are interested. |

The question that needs to be answered is "who does he replace and will he be an improvement on that player". I do not know who he could replace but at 1.9 goals a game that is good. Do we need him? I think not? _________________ No one needs to get hurt, it's only business. |

^ Probably not in best 22 if they are all fit. But how often does that happen?? Hasn't happened in the last 6+ years.
So you need good back up options that can play a role well. That's where I see him fit at our club.
He could also break into the seniors on pure weight of goals in the VFL. Will keep the seniors honest each week.
He can kick multiples, so opposition need to look after him. And being 6th banana, lets him get loose.
IF we are tilting for a flag, then this is a depth player we should consider, if we have a spot available. I'd suggest we won't have room and the likes of Blues or Saints or GCS will be more desperate for his services. |

We just traded Fas, who has no defensive side and won't fit in our structure, so no thanks.
He's an upgrade on Crocker though. |

If hes able to play (and thats a big if) Menzel is about twice as good as Fasolo. |

FWIW: Fas took his FA option. We didn't trade him. |

I'm inclined to agree. If we can get him for nothing, we could do worse. Surprised Geelong got rid of him, to be honest. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
