West Coast have given Josh Smith a lifeline.

Really? Why?

No idea what motivated them to recruit him.

I thought if Smith was going to play for another club, it would be for one of the Queensland clubs so it came as a surprise to me.

Likewise. They have Gaff coming back next year. How is Josh Smith going to get a game and they have no feeder WAFL side to instruct him how Simpson wants him to play? Would have been better off going back to Queensland.

Thought I'd put some info up on this new supplementary rookie draft.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-04/afl-brings-in-midseason-rookie-draft-for-2019-

Basically between 1 december and 15 march a club can just sign a player who has previously been on an AFL list.

They are signed as a category A rookie so you either have to have a rookie space available or you can move a listed player to the new "inactive" list.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-04/afl-brings-in-midseason-rookie-draft-for-2019-

eg, if Sam Murray's findings come back before march 15 and he is suspended, we can move him to the inactive list and sign someone who has retired or been delisted.

From the article it looks as though only “retired or long term injured” players can be moved to the inactive list. Far from clear to me that Murray would be eligible.

Pick 29 (653 points) less 197 point discount (fixed discount after first round) =456.

Many thanks!

For those who are still not sure.
We will not be in deficit next year.
So we picked up Beams, IQ ( first round pick ) and Kelly ( second round pick ) all for the loss of probably 2 late first round picks )

Not bad at all

We don’t have a first rounder at this stage, but:

Can this be applied to Marsh if we wanted him?

Wouldn't mind having Marsh back if he's up for it?

Possibly. There's some glitch I don't understand which had players delisted this year not nominating for the draft so they'd be eligible for this.

I guess if it can, and we want him, and if Murray is suspended, we'll find out.

The way he departed makes it very unlikely he'd want to come back or that he would be welcome back. Too much bad blood I'm afraid. Crying or Very sad

Current version averages 26 with the bat and 42 with the ball. Reverse those and we have an All rounder

A team wins a premiership, not an individual member of it, not even an individual member who plays very well.

Marsh would not cost a fortune in any terms.
