Likely delistings now to include Blair, McLarty, Daicos, Smith, Oxley, Kirby and Madgen.

Madgen is a Cat B rookie and was in negotiations. Daicos was close to signing a 2 year deal a while back. Oxley is a Cat A Rookie.

Kirby and Broomhead have been confirmed as a primary list delisting, and other likely delistings are Blair, Smith, Murray and possibly McLarty (unlucky). Greenwood and Daicos would be less likely.

Not everyone on this forum is an Appleby fan and that’s fine but I would think with the club offering him a 2 year deal, they obviously believe he has a lot of upside.
As for McLarty, I have kept my powder dry but I’m not convinced he will get another contract, let alone make it. In a team that was crying out for talls and one that played Madgen before McLarty, I would suggest that says the club feel he is still a long way off.

In terms of any “ major “ signing and the spot they take, you would think Greenwood may be the one in jeopardy. We have plenty who have passed him by and I would think any new contract would be at above “ award rates “.

Look, we ain't giving away The Pig until at least the end of 2019.
He still gets another crack or two at Suckwood next year, which is always good viewing.

Hawthorn have kept Tim O'Brien. North Melbourne have kept Mason Wood. These guys take years to develop. McLarty is no different.

I agree, but his increased value might be the issue. I imagine he would be expecting some reasonable remuneration for 2019, but the club might not be convinced that he can back up his form (or command a spot in the best 22 if we get May, and get Moore back on the park).

Daicos is definitely signing a new contract. Any delay in signing a new contract would only be over deciding it's duration.

I would have thought Madgen goes another year as a Cat B rookie as there is no risk other than the salary we carry.

The fact that big guys take a bit longer to develop is the exact reason why I kept my powder dry but for everyone that does come on, there is another who doesn’t. Im just not convinced he has the future that some seem to think.
I look forward to being proven wrong but only time will tell all ( well it will if he gets another contract )

I am gobsmacked that folks think Daicos will be de-listed!?!

Have I missed something?

No, you just don't, perhaps, think in a sufficiently disordered way to appreciate the merit of letting a guy who is better than Fasolo go to Carlton for nothing. Wink

I'd be shocked if daicos was let go, less so McClarty although I think he should stay.

Blair and Murray are lock ins to be delisted

Pies look after there own. Even if you are right, gifting him a rookie spot is hardly going to kill us.

i am surprised you guys don't talk about Smith the same way you talk about Blair. Both of these fellows are gone-ski. The only reason they are not gone is that Collingwood is going to give other clubs the opportunity to reach out to give them another chance in which case i am certain the pies would accommodate with a simple trade. Both of these guys would be dependable for a shit team like Carlton.

And, of course, he was starting 22 for us - that’s how he came to break his leg. I’m not sold on him (he still seems too slight to me) but the Club plainly think he has enough talent to be a starter.

The last stanza —D Day for signing and then the cost evaluation and if costs are excessive who goes to balance the trade/trades

Be a real interesting day
