I'm thinking Adams, Grundy, Sidey or Treloar as skip.

Pendles has been fantastic, but he's old and probably needs less responsibility to concentrate on his next role.

I love Adams, really gets stuck in and young enough to thrive in the role for next few years. Only 25, loves big occasions and a bit of biff.

Remember when Maxy got the skipper gig, he proved me wrong for starters.

Adams would be my pick.

Grundy as vice

Sidey would be disappointed but let him focus on beating tight tags and winning brownlows.

Just quietly, i reckon Degoey is a future skip once all the off field shit gets forgotten.

Thoughts, Nicksters

Happy for Pendles to keep it for maybe 2 more years.

Might have already been promised to Tom Langdon to get that contract over the line ...

Adams has a bit of Shawry in him, tough, gets alot of the ball, gets into oppositions faces, shit kick (joke).

He was great in the grand final and spoke well after the game.

Adams for skip!

Langdon will never captain the club. He's not even in the leadership group.

As for Pendles, I'm a bit ambivalent. I'm happy for him to continue, I'm also happy if he wants to step back and bring someone else up.

He's a class act.

In the April thread about this, I noted that there is an "emerging leaders group":
Jamie Elliott, Brodie Grundy, Brayden Maynard, Darcy Moore, Tom Langdon and Adam Treloar...

Not saying Pendles is shit, he'll always be a leader. Give him less responsibility so he can thrive in his later years.

Adams. Ticks all the boxes. Great character, ready-made leader.

It's bullshit saying anyone thinks Pendles should be "sacked". Retire with honour, yes, and if not this year then next year 'coz time waits for no man. Been an excellent leader, and he will make a great mentor for young Adams when he takes up the role.

He was in the 40 man squad for All Aus honours.

Some of you people are truly too much.

Had meningitis pre finals and nearly busted his jaw in week one, playing with loose teeth that need surgery and unable to eat solids for the past month.

Take a breath and step back from your phone/keyboard.

Settle RH, settle. It was just rhetorical question. It has to happen at some point. Maybe one more year if Pendles wants it, then Tay for mine, for the reasons given above.

His career average for possessions is 26.48 and this year he averaged 26.8. He's still the man.

There's no shame in relinquishing the captaincy and continuing to play. Depends on the player. Some benefit in their last few seasons without the added pressure, some need that added pressure.

I dunno which camp Pendles is in, but he's still a bloody good player, but he's over 30. it's just a matter of when the captaincy transitions.
