He started slowly tonight but then gradually swung the game at the coalface. 19 disposals, 7 clearances, 2 goal assists.
He (still) carries the team. |

Essentially it was 19 disposals in three quarters, as he didn't record a disposal in the first quarter.
Well done, Pendles. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Pretty amazing that Pendles is going to break the club games record and the club record for games as captain in the same game. I hope he celebrates in style with a big win. _________________ The beatings will continue until moral improves. |

I'll be kind and state upfront NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.
I was woken by a text message at 5:36am this morning from my brother.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but how fitting is it that he'll break the games record as a "Pie" with the number 314? _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

From the round 18, 2020 pregame thread OP:
Quote: | The great Scott Pendlebury will play his 314th game, breaking the record of Tony Shaw for most games played. On the same night, he will captain Collingwood for the 162nd time, and break Nathan Buckley's record for most games played as captain of Collingwood.
Scott has won the Copeland Trophy 5 times (2011, 2013-2016), been named in the AFL's All-Australian team 6 times (2010-2014, 2019) and was the AFL Coaches' Association Champion Player of the Year in 2013. To the end of 2019, he has 194 Brownlow Medal votes over his magnificent career.
Over his career, Scott has played in 190 wins, 3 draws and 120 losses. His 190 wins already have him third all-time on the list of players who have played in the most Collingwood victories, behind just Gordon Coventry (with a ridiculous 220 victories from 306 games) and Harry Collier (with a similarly startling 193 victories from 253 games).
For the record, Scott has, so far, had 4,133 kicks, 1,290 marks, 4,155 handballs and a total of 8,288 disposals (3,379 of his possessions have been contested - an average of 10.8 contested possessions per game), kicked 179 goals and given 226 goal assists. He has laid 1,522 tackles, had 1,406 clearances, put the ball inside 50 1,169 times and rebounded it from defensive 50 510 times. |

The season ending awards will be interesting.
Brownlow Night:
8 votes needed to pass Leigh Matthews as the highest total vote winner without winning the medal. (Depending on Joel Selwoods votes).
16 votes needed to enter the top 5 for total votes. (Depending on Joel Selwoods and Dangerfields votes).
I cant see him winning a Brownlow now at 32. Buckley was the last player to win a Brownlow in his 30s, when he was 31 in 2003. But he could have the most votes for no win.
All-Australian Night:
He is in every squad of 40 since 2009. With 6 selections in the final AA team.
He is 2 overall selections behind Robert Harvey, Mark Ricciuto, Gary Ablett, Jr. & Lance Franklin who have the most AAs with 8 total selections. (Buckley has 7 and Dangerfield also sits on 7 and is likely to join the leaders). Its a shame he didn't sneak into an extra team or two.
Copeland Trophy:
He needs one more to equal Buckleys 6 wins. You'd think Adams might be taking it home this year though. But you never know.
2021: MCG:
Going into 2021, he'll need 5 more games at the MCG to equal Kevin Bartlett (Rich) who has played 200 on the ground. Would have passed this one this year if things were normal. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Interesting to look at his standing in Collingwood's list of most Brownlow votes per eligible game played. Fothergill is on top (0.85 votes per game), Swanny second (0.78 ) and Scott is third (0.70). By comparison, Peter Moore won two Brownlows but only averaged 0.44 votes per eligible game (across both clubs he played for). Pendles doesn't just have votes because of his longevity - he gets them at the third highest rate for a Collingwood player all-time. More votes per game than, eg, Nathan Buckley, Peter Daicos, Bob Rose, Marcus Whelan, Thorold Merrett, Bill Twomey and Len Thompson. |
