I've proposed this before, play Grundy as ruck-rover at centre bounces, Cox takes the centre bounce ruck, then Cox drifts forward and Grundy rucks around the ground.

I agree..this is the strategy for getting the best out of Brodie .... and possibly Coxy too! I wonder how fast Mason could get down the ground from the centre bounce??? Guess he would only have to take 20 giant strides and he'd be there. Laughing

Hit outs are an irrelevant stat these days.... Hit outs to advantage on the other hand......

I wonder how many of those he had? i cant find that stat anywhere.

...

From the afl.com.au article (which is now also on the Collingwood website):

"On Saturday, just 19 per cent of Grundy's hitouts were to his teammates' advantage. Meanwhile, GWS had just five hitouts to advantage but comfortably held sway 29-8 in scores from stoppages."

So HO to adv. 14-5.

Obviously hit outs to advantage are also different to clearances, so by extension you would guess that most of the taps to advantage were corralled by the Giants mids before we could do anything with it on the outside.

Scoring from stoppages is the Giants one wood. The fact that we “ reduced “ them to 29 points from stoppages was a good effort. What killed us was our inability to score from stoppages / clearances and turnovers or anything for that matter.

14 hitouts to advantage and 10 clearances himself - that's a thrashing in any language.
