Unfortunately, I'm a bit trapped in the old school mentality that anything less than a flag is unacceptable. That kind of thinking may be OK for players, as a means of getting the best out of themselves, but for us supporters it's irrational.
With 18 teams in the competition, some of whom receive advantages fro the AFL (e.g. Brisbane 2002, 2003), winning more than one flag in every 18 years is a good result.
As others have pointed out, when you consider our starting point, the number of injuries, etc. this has been a highly successful year. Go Pies!! _________________ Side by side. |

Well, we don't know if the injuries are (partly or largely) our fault. And for most of the past 60 years, there have been 12 teams, and sadly we have not won 5 flags (which would be mediocre) in that time. |

... As a counterpoint, I'll say that even if we win the premiership it does not necessarily mean that everything at the club is rosy. (e.g. Dogs.)
Another way of viewing it: if not everything at the club is rosy, we'd better win the premiership now. (e.g. Whatever problems the Dogs have now, they still remain the 2016 Premiers.) |

Fair enough.
I just want to focus on winning tonight and hopefully the Grannie, then I'll turn my attention to reflecting on the season once it's done and dusted. |

This topic feels like the calm before the storm. One way or another there's going to be a lot of feedback on Nick's later tonight...here's hoping it's the positive kind after the best possible result, for it only takes one loss for the detractors to come out. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

Whatever happens, I'm super proud of the way we've performed this year.
Hopefully this journey continues for another week. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
