Discussed at great lengths on Talking Footy an for all intents and purpose,s
a player is entitled to protect himself

Well come our game and it’s executed again and the recipient (one of our boys
to protect himself fends the leg away from his face and Mr Green lands awkwardly would that be reportedable

❓❓❓❓❓

They would get done for taking his legs out. It's not in the spirit of the game and forget the AFL. The AFLPA should be the ones to talk to him. He is a great player and no need to do this shit.

When in Talking Footy (how many minutes in) did they start discussing this?

[See my posts in the MOTY/GOTY thread (bottom of p.1 & p.2, starting from http://magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?p=1865410#1865410 ) as well.]

Guess taking leg out would be the ruling (which I didn’t consider)

Wonder if a defend yourself karate mark results in opposing player having a broken nose or fractured cheekbone

Who ,or would anyone get done over it

It’s not length of discussion it’s the subject matter

I mean: where in the program can the topic be found [... for those who wish to view it without wading through the whole episode]?

They discussed the same topic at length on afl 360
Basically it's not about using a body part to hold a player off but the tags being faced outwards at an opponent and the awkwardness of the movements to get his tags in the position they end up
For mine it's a deliberate act to hurt a oppostion player
The afl have said it should have been a free against him so this week any movement of his leg like that and he will be pinged for sure
If I was playing on him I would grab that leg and twist it at the knee see how he likes that
He's got bad form on this front it wasn't a one off it

Just looked on You Tube replay of Talking Footy

The 40 minute mark of the show and the highlight incident was Green sticking leg out side ways into player 28 [Newman]

They also cited Jarrod Waite as an offender

I don't get the "its within the rules" argument. I would've thought dangerous play i.e. kicking in danger was not within the rules! If you can't see that as dangerous play, I give up.

Tho Dusty “Don’t argue” is less impacting I’d like someone to pull his arm
repeatedly till he could not compete effectively

The demeanour of the panel IMO was that they didn’t care and Oh it’s in the Rules was final

Well hope these muppets know this when their pick eye favourite after being rubbed out can’t win Charlie that it’s Fairest and Best according to the rules and don’t subject us to the Whinge
