Great win, just a great win in trying circumstances, GWS came back strong and we stood up to the challenge.

Wasn't a single passenger, even Stevo stayed involved all night, and I think he will have a huge one next week, as the Tiggers may not give him the attention he deserves.

Def need to play WHE up the ground again next week, if we get the ball to him quickly from defence we will have a good chance of bypassing Richmonds zone set-up quick enough to expose their supposedly legendary backline

Can anyone think of why oppo clubs insist on playing C- or D-grade defenders on JdG when he's forward?

Problem being theirs

That leaves someone else free...it’s good to have multiple choices for a change. Although by the end of last night I was doing the good old Don’t look Cloke manoeuvre!

Yep - we’ve made about 60 finals series for 43 GFs and 25 flags. Statistically the most likely scenario when we make the finals is to make the GF and lose.

That means we take Richmond next week - and then, who knows?

Gifted ride from the umpires

Shocking goal kicking

Awful turnovers from the backline

Amazing pressure - we made GWS shit the bed twice tonight.

JDG - well done

Grundy - in BEAST mode all night

Cox - Thank gawd for those two marks in the 4th

Langdon was brilliant

Well done Pies!!!!

I just read one of your posts in the game day thread after JDG’s Free in the last quarter. You called it lucky I believe? Seriously. I called the free while at the game live from my vantage point on the half forward line, and the replays clearly shows his arm being dislodged from its socket in the marking contest.

What gives? After quarter time the GWS got a pretty sweet ride.

JDG had a fist full of jumper. So I meant it was lucky the umpire didn't see the stretched out jumper which was obvious on replay.

Yep, understood. Saw that on the replay too. F them.

You know what’s amazing, is that most have Treloar in their top 5 players for the night. And well deserved at that. I had him in my top five Pies.

Amazing because he was unlikely to play again this year, and within two weeks he’s one of our most influential players in a final. Remarkable. Bonus. Match hardened now for a prelim.

Regardless of next weeks result, I am very happy with the CFC in 2018.
It’s been an awesome ride!

Well, I was up until 3am this morning before I went to bed.
Like most of you, I was stoked, hyped and anxious, then relieved.

Watched the game on Foxtel, who really pissed me off with their ch.501 cricket watermark obscuring the screen for the entire broadcast. Out of line, kunts.
So had to watch the replay to appreciate the contest a little more, once all the angst was removed, unlike the live broadcast, where i ate like a pig.

My initial thought on the game was desperation, and a scrappy, fumbly mess. Much like last week, only not effected by the bald dog Nicholls this time. If we draw that biased whistle-happy shit stack next week, we are in trouble before the game even begins. Hope Eddie intervenes here.
But I think I went in with my expectations too high; I wanted us to demonstrate clean ball movement and sure hands for the entire game. But it's a final and realistically we're only going to get patches of that standard, and the rest is a dour scrap until the final siren.
Still, plenty of room for improvement, and a few players will need to lift their work rates next week if we are to advance any further.

I don't think we can categorically say we are a better side than GWS when they have a full contingent of players to field, in their best 22. They have been hit by injuries just as badly as we have, and it's almost cruel that we had to be the side to eliminate them. Josh Kelly was a big out for them.
Sad to see Shaw sitting in the stands, a great servant for both teams.
Not good to see Coniglio distraught at the end of the game; he just saw a years work go down the drain, despite his best efforts. Yet they dropped too many games they shouldn't have, which cost them top 4 and a home final.

Now a very light week on the track for the squad would be in order, the heavy lifting to get this far has been done, and done very well. Recovery mode is now our objective on a 6 day break.

Things can't be too bad for us after all if Reid and Moore can't get a game?
They still need to be well stretched and put through their paces at training though, as they've had many weeks of minimal impact.

I'll leave any references to Tiggers for the pre-match thread.

So bye-bye to Poo&Piss, whose backline couldn't repel enough Melbourne attack minus Stratton and Birchill. Straight-sets bitches; Didums.

GO THE PIES!!

Watching Coniglio crying. priceless.

Let's not go there...in all likelihood it will be some of our players in the same state of distress in the next week or two...
