I doubt, though, that we would enjoy watching him nearly as much - even getting 40 possessions a game as our midfield gun - as we do watching him now. I’d like him to become an 18-disposal per game high half-forward. He could be both unstoppable and exciting to watch.
Call me old-fashioned but, as a spectator and not a coach, I don’t think there’s anything better than seeing a guy with crazy skills kick a goal that shouldn’t have been kicked. I know that 16 “team goals” wins a game of footy every day but it’s the couple of unbelievable things a talent like this can produce every week that makes it fun (or, at least, not an entirely dour life and death experience). |
You're dead right there. Stephenson is one of those players that have the gift of letting you experience living in the moment. Doesn't matter what the score is, or what's in the balance win or lose. It's that awareness of being totally alive to the present moment and nothing else. Makes for vivid memories of games too. Those six or seven seconds when Stephenson took on two Richmond players on the wing for a sprint toward goal were exhilarating and will be with me for years. |

Yes. It's junk food (except worse). But the club will also want to avoid making the Andrew Schauble mistake again. |

What, sending him to the Swans - or making him vice-captain first? |

But do they have any official affiliation with their club?
A club cannot control some bunch of renegade supporters. |
