Is it just me or have there been fewer Pies games on free-to-air television in 2018 than any other year in living memory? I can't remember either going to the pub or watching a game on my phone for so many consecutive weeks like EVER!
Is it something to do with the weird game start times? It seems like a bad move for the AFL to snub a team like Collingwood that brings in so many ratings. |

Theoretically it goes something like this:
If Collingood does well (like this year) we're more likely to get more Friday night and Saturday night games meaning more FTA.
If Collingwood doesn't do well like the last few years then Collingwood gets less Friday and Saturday night games and less FTA.
If Collingwood doesn't do well then we get ore pay TV only games and timeslots.
The above is set in a context of increasing demands by payTV to get more of a shake whe the deals are done with AFL over broadcasting rights. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Definitely less on free to air, especially in rural areas in WA.
Until recently, my roster had me away for 2 out of every 3 weekends, the way I watched most of our games was on my phone or tablet. I actually can't recall watching one game on TV up there. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

I almost feel like there's been inordinate amount of Carlton games on Seven which is bizarre as Collingwood were marginalised according to the above criteria for finishing middle-of-the-road as opposed to being a bottom side like the Blues. I might be wrong, but I do feel like I've seen lots of Carlton this year on TV. |

Watching Carlton play live, free to air, with their horrified supporters aware that everyone else is seeing their team suck on national television, has been a particular pleasure in 2018. |

your loss is my gain. AFL is shown around the world on various Fox affiliates. Collingwood have been on Fox nearly every week so wherever i am in the world, I've been able to watch the pies. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

ANZAC Day
QB
Three Friday nights... Carl, Ade, Dogs
Hawks, Saints, Swans
Tigers 1, Bombers 2, Cats n Dockers Sunday afternoons into News
However only 2 games in the last 10 rounds. That's why it feels like a drought. _________________ Get back on top. |

I was thinking exactly the same thing.I think we've only had two free to air games since round 12,both against perennial A.F.L favourites Essendon and the Sydney Swans.Meanwhile Carlton and even St Kilda have been getting more prime time games than us.Someone at the A.F.L hates us.They'd rather give a prime time spot to some low drawing club like St Kilda than us. |

It's a ploy to get Pies fans to buy Foxtel. The streaming version gives a two week trial, then people forget to cancel it and Foxtel gets a new subscriber. |

AFL has to make money.
They sell telecast rights to Ch 7 and Foxtel
Ch. 7 and Foxtel have to make money.
Foxtel sells content and those has to include content people want.
You can't have your cake and eat it too.
If you want all Pies games free, then you have to cut the wages of AFL players or make up for it by increasing the membership and tickets prices.
Would you be happy paying $65 to get into the game or are you happier Foxtel subscribers subsidising your ticket price? _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

10 matches have aired on Foxtel this year.
Since Round 14, eight matches have aired on Foxtel. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
