Can you expand on that, Jezza? I am genuinely interested on why many on the right have that opinion.

Never mind, I just read your posts in the other thread and I get it now.

I used to think that, but I actually don't mind him now. I've seen him on The Project several times, he can take a laugh at his own expense but he can also speak seriously and knowledgeably on a range of subjects without resorting to the usual cliches and cant. He comes across as genuine, not scripted, which is more than I can say for many of them on either side.

I don't see him as leadership material though, probably because he is too genuine.

Genuine, hmmm

Like you I’ ve come round to liking him more. I enjoy his exchanges with his friend and rival Albo. I laughed at his It’s fixed, I’ve fixed it routine. Then again because the party has become so extreme by holding onto climate change denialism, coal is clean, white power and other plainly fanatic and looney views that Pine seems rational in contrast Surprised

Mother Theresa could be the PM and that won't save them as they head further to the right with their fruit loop backwards policies. The religious loonies have lost the plot and I hope they head further to the right so the people can remove them and send a clear message.

Libs seem to be staging a comeback in Wentworth on the back of postal votes. As at 10:30 am there's less than 900 votes in it by my reading.

They are running at over 60% to the Libs (postal votes) I think is what I read earlier

They 'found' 281 more votes? That's higher than the recount margin. Is such a huge discrepancy in 1 booth normal?

Interesting voter reaction.

Libs primary vote down 19%, Labor and Greens primary vote down 6% each.

The independent, Phelps, has 29% of the primary vote (Libs have 43%)

So, while a number of people are clearly pissed off at the Libs for knifing Turnbull, there's also been a general rejection of the other 2 major parties.

The next federal election could be a dogs breakfast.

^ ALP were very passive, knowing they not going to win and not waste money in this electorate; akin to the libs not fielding candidates in certain unwinnable by-elections. However they were actively encouraging voters not to vote Lib thereby assisting Phelps.

The role of independents as you’re suggesting ( & fwiw something I agree with) and their prominence/ power should again play a significant role in the shaping of the next Federal election.

I wouldn't read to much into the Labor and Green vote being down as this had been the most blue ribbon electorate in Australia and the elite within were never going to send a protest vote the way of those two parties and chose the independent.

Swing voters who have gone with Labor or The Greens in the past were probably smart enough to know also that Phelps was the only candidate with the chance to win so voted accordingly.
