Mayne was terrible. There are 12 better players than him in the seconds and half of them aren’t even on an AFL list. It’s like people are so desperate to pretend that he isn’t a complete waste of space that they are determined to find every backwards handball an act of genius. It is a tragedy that he played ahead of Daicos.

I thought that was probably his best game for us. Yes, he is not going to trouble the Tigers on the G in a big final or probably any serious flag contender for that matter. He is not quick but he puts his body on the line and given our injury problems we just need him and anyone else prepared to do that in the side. Our best 22 does not have him in it but right now he is in our best 22. I give credit where credit is due and a bagging when its due and tonight he deserves a pat on the back.

Good summary of Maynes contribution tonight and at Collingwood.
Not sure why some posters first instincts are to still want to rip into individuals after they have all been part of a solid win.

Saying that was Mayne’s best game for us is like saying that Derek Shaw played better games for us than the 1979 Grand Final.

Very happy to tick that one off.

Port have confirmed Dixon out for the season, Houston in hospital getting X-rays etc so I assume unlikely. Ryder is m8nor, but still a ? for next week I would think.

Glad We won but my God we where Very Unconvincing and outside of 3rd Qtr we where quite Poor.

We Badly need Howe Back we are Badly Missed Him.

Just give Grundy the Copeland.

Aish was Solid in Return. Sier again had a Impact.

So we need Win or Draw in Last 2 Games to Make Finals. That no Certinty with our Injuries.

Lions are Bad could not beat our Reserve's

FFS, Lions are not bad. They have beaten Dawkthorn twice, and pushed several top teams to the line. Our second half was fantastic, and was the sign of a team that has the guts, the solidarity, the grit, to go far. If not this year, then in the near future. I thought this was a great victory.

Kelly and Shaw injures for the Giants tonight too.
Gee it can all change very quickly .... unless of course, you’re Richmond.

News we didn't want to hear 😞: "I think he's torn the same calf he tore 10 weeks ago. It's not a good situation for Reidy." #FOREVER https://t.co/ilufZjyBUl

The 'future captain' was bog for the first half... Killed them before being not as influential in the second. Hair bear was strong all night, kicked a couple and looks like he belongs. Aish was very pleasing, he made a couple of unforced errors but generally looked like the player he was when he got injured. Cox was manhandled before, after and during contests and despite exaggerating contact occasionally still got very little from the scumps.

There have been some ridiculous statements put up on Nicks over the years....

The one above is definitely top 3 all time

Did anyone seriously think we'd get anything more out of Reid? It was only a question of when not if. To think some wanted his brother here too, what a disaster that would have been! Sad but not surprised

30 scoring shots to 11 after quarter time tells the story - we could have won by a lot more. That was probably our worst game in front of goal for the season. We should have kicked 10 goals in the 3rd quarter.

Adams has become such an important player now. This is easily his best season for us, so reliable now.

I thought Grundy was down a bit in the first half, then BOOM!! What a third quarter he played.

If we had the luxury of playing De Goey as a permanent forward for a whole season, he would kick 60. Easily.

the back line did pretty well considering who is missing. We need to slow down the entries into our defensive 50 - when it comes in quick, we are going to get caught out.

Great game by Mayne again tonight. So happy he kicked a couple of goals. You could see how happy his team mates were for him.

Big game next week against Port, who might be almost as knackered as we are.
