The club says he'll be back pretty soon. His rebound out of defence has been superb.

Is there a reason why the club and Moore aren’t being pestered by the media regarding his contact status?

One would presume his non signing at this point in the season is a big deal?

For what it’s worth, I’d say he’s gone. And thank fork. But the issue is we’ll get stuff all back for him now that he breaks every second week.

Luckily the club has come up with this BS story that he’s still growing, which would give someone like Sydney hope that he’ll turn into a ruckman, which we know they need.

Fingers crossed!!!!

Back flipping on my back flip. Trade him away! First rounder and use that on May.

His manager says he is likely staying with the Pies. That's why there is less speculation around.

Not that I much care what happens but the hype is certainly not matched by the stats. He has now played 54 games. Over his career, he averages 6 and a bit kicks and 3 and a bit handballs. This year, he's going at 5 and a bit and 3 and a bit. There are at least 25 other players at Collingwood who could not perform that way over 50 games without the Government calling a Royal Commission into them.

He's never had more than 17 disposals.

I don't want to make this about the Future Captain - but since so many of you are so hard on Tommy, the career comparison may be informative: https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=5&playerStatus2=A&tid2=5&type=A&pid1=4023&pid2=3975&fid1=C&fid2=C

Darcy gets half as many disposals (Langdon's disposal average is better than Moore has ever managed in any game), less than half as many effective disposals, fewer marks, fewer tackles, less contested ball, fewer inside 50s, fewer clearances, fewer rebound 50s, fewer one-percenters etc etc.

Just food for thought, really. Moore has obvious talent but he doesn't seem to do much with it. I wonder whether he warrants much more than a base contract. You certainly wouldn't want to lose a good player or fail to snare a good one from somewhere else because of what Moore was being paid.

^ You can't read too much into his stats this year because:
1) He has been injured in 3 games before half time
2) He is playing as a defender and is spoiling the ball etc. Stats don't reveal the sprinting to a contest to get in front of his A grade opponent and then dash away to get us out of trouble (which he's done several times)

With due respect to Langdon, he doesn't get the best opposition forward.

^In the last few seasons, Darcy was playing forward, and we could rarely get it into the forward line, at least cleanly. While a the other end of the ground the defence was being peppered and would have been getting their hands on it a lot more. May explain some of the overall career stats.

First, those stats are a career comparison, not just this (especially hopeless) season from Moore. Secondly, I have previously put up comparisons for Moore as a forward against a genuine great (Cloke) and against his own father at the same stage. The differences were shocking. The fact is that it doesn’t matter where we play him, or in what precise capacity, he does basically nothing - and then gets injured, as well, leaving us a player short. It’s about time people started seeing these things as patterns, rather than early-career under-performance. He’s probably a quarter of the way through his AFL career, now - and if he doesn’t start performing to an acceptable standard, in some capacity, he’s closer to the end than the start. It’d be great if he suddenly came good and turned into a gun - but on the evidence so far he isn’t much more than a role player, at best. Kind of like a larger, more-athletic, poorly-performed version of Goldie.

They will get him right, he's changing from boy to man both physically and mentally. His upside is so great it could be like being the coach who cut Michael Jordan after his second year. Or selling a yearling named after the Zhuang/Thai words for lightning

Revisit this thread in two or three years time when he is AA, a once in generation player, and some people here will be eating there words.

I agree Cam.
Darcy looked good and was doing the job against the tigers. His kicking to position was superb. We'd be foolish to assume he will keep breaking down to hammies and so ship him off. Stick with him and we could have the best centre half back in the comp. I seem to remember Alex Rance being bagged out early on in his career. Look at how good he is now...

Rance was bagged out early in his career because he was playing like a chump. Darcy gets bagged out because he's often injured...

Let's leave the comparisons for a time when Darcy is getting 20 rebounds a game and doesn't have to pick up a forward.

So, after 54 failed attempts, you’re confident he’ll have a 20 disposal game one day, are you?
