If Elliott can lose body-parts laying a tackle in the VFL, he is plainly months off senior football. Just forget about him until next season, at least. We've seen, repeatedly, the impact it has on our game when we end up a rotation or two down. We can't afford to take any of these players into the seniors until we are satisfied they are really AFL-fit, however good their names might look on paper.

This. We may be near the end, but let’s try one more time in 2019. Right now he’s Ruslinged.

Elliot & Shaz are the hardest to let go and I doubt the club will and I don't want to tbh. But, we need to start with a few at season's end. I'd start with Reid, Wells, Faz & Varcoe, these guys can't be trusted to stay fit, too many soft tissues. We need to spread it out over two or three seasons but we need to build a deep & reliable playing list.

I don't see a spot in our forwad line for Fas, who does he replace?

Stepenson?

Thomas?

WHE?

JDG?

He doesn't have the tank to play wing either, i think he's played his last game for us.

Agree. Crocker or Fas? Crocker. Fas reminds me a bit of Dids' last season. Goneski. I'd play Blair on a wing everytime instead of him as well. Simply, Blair, Crocker, Mayne, Varcoe etc fit our style. Fasolo could only replace... Cox.

Harsh. I disagree. Fas could replace JDG (who's currently out) alternating deep forward with WHE and Son of Stephan. When JDG come back he goes midfield.

Fas played well today, I actually saw him chase and tackle, kicked a few goals, hit Billy with a stab pass and generally looked up and about. We quickly forget, he kicked 29 goals last year in a dysfunctional forward line and averaged 13 disposals and 2 tackles per game.

Agree. For all his supposed faults, Fas is a proven goalkicker.

I think the club could talk Wells into retirement and hopefully some compo for a career ending injury. It’s the best outcome for all parties. Wells might try and play on but don’t see him playing more than 10 games. Risk is too high compared with the reward.

I think there is only one solution to all these injuries........time to trade and/or delist all players who cannot get themselves fit or stay fit. This may seem very harsh and it is but this is not a curse, we have too many injury prone footballers and it is ruining every season since the handover. No team can have this much bad luck, time to start making some very very tough decisions.

unfortunately i tend to agree. Get Elliot to the best specialist there is and get a straight answer. How long is Reid's contract and how much is it? I love him but can we count on him to last a game?
Wells the same, and i think we have well and truly seen the last of Varcoe's best sadly.
All this spanks very close to 2010, and the sad faces on the sidelines who held us up for so long and didnt get the chocolates: Frazer, Tarks, even bucks and rocca and of course the selfless Presti.

I suggested all this in the "bad luck, or bad genetics" thread and I absolutely agree after today with Jamie . It's painful but we need to start clearing out what's killing us.

We need a more robust list. the end.

Something has to change for us to fix the ongoing injury curse. And getting rid of unhealthy players is the change we need.

We just can't keep hoping for the best....hope does not equal success.

We need to be ruthless and tough. No more sentimentality at Collingwood.

Thanks Jamie for tying, but your body says No.

This club is a joke.

If I was Lynch, I wouldn’t come near The holden centre.

Even a one eyed Tiger fan, on Twitter told me they feel sorry for Elliott, and cant believe we have so many, unending bad luck with ongoing, never ending costly injuries. She could not understand how one club, could have such a horrendous run with injured players like this !!

I told her we are cursed, a curse is on this team, and we cannot do anything about it. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I actually agree with you, the club is not an ongoing hospital, and this is now way, way outa control. It saddens me to say it, but we cannot, cannot continue with players who never ever, get fit, never get well, and rarely if ever take the field, and are costing us a kings ransom sitting in the stands. I feel sorry for Jamie, but his time has come, as has time for Wells and Reid, we cant do this shit any longer. I think the club must be ruthless and delist these guys, and clear our list so we can get Lynch, and a couple of others who can at LEAST take the field, not just play 3 games a year, enough is enough. !! Idea Idea

Is there something wrong with the surface at Holden Centre? Is it our medical and conditioning staff? Is it really just bad genetics with all of these players?

Lee Walker & Sean Rusling say hello!

As much as I love Jamie & would love nothing more than to see him play his days out at CFC, cut him loose!

A lot of negative comments about our injured players. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater! At least the club should be saving some $ on Elliot's next contract if he continues.

If you cant fit a classy player like Fasolo in the team because he doesnt have manic tackling pressure then thats a joke. Varcoes running around getting 9 touches and Crockers a fraud in the big league.

We have to pull the trigger with Fasolo. He will be a welcome addition to our forward line and a genuine dangerous target who gives the forward line another dimension with his 60 metre kicking ability. He has the No.1 for a reason.

He is the only player left who could geniuenly allow JDG to go off the leash into midfield come finals.

If were going to win finals we need Treloar and DeGeoy off the leash with Pendles and Steele
Mason, Fasolo, Hoskin-Elliot, Thomas, Stephenson good enough potency.

disappointed to hear about Billy. fas deserves a game this week and hopefuuly stays in tge side. remember he kicked 6 v tigs 2 yr ago? imagine thati n a sep win..

Re-gaining either Goldsack or Reid would be a bonus given there experience in Defense. If i had the choice i would take the Combative Tyson Goldsack. The living Good-Omen

Fas's injury problems aren't with soft tissue though. He copped a knee that cracked his shoulder blade and then had some other injury on it. Could have introduced a chronic issue there, I guess but I doubt it. The chronic issues are usually joints or muscles, not bones. His latest injury was a heavily rolled ankle in a bloody hard tackle.

So yeah... Fas's problems aren't chronic. His body isn't letting him down.

He's a natural forward with a good dose of x-factor and keen goal sense. While not quick, he isn't exactly lumbering.

Cox, Fas, WHE, Thomas, Stevo, resting-midfielder. That's a good forward 6. There's a good mix of pace, ground ball smarts, aerial strength and forward nous too. If that resting mid is DeGoey, Sidey or even Treloar, it's going to cause huge headaches for the oppo.

And who knows? Maybe we'll see Elliott back, though like you - I doubt he's got any AFL in him at the Pies. We don't do soft tissue very well at all.
