I doubt we'll get anything out of Wells. Seems to me that he's sticking around (as is his right) to pick up another $500,000. Can't blame him really.

Well, in that case, let's hope this wonderful player can get his body right for 2019. I wonder how many games he'd need to play next year before the club considers the deal to have been a success?

Didn't Bucks say 15 games per season would be a pass? By my calculation, he would have to play about 32 games next season for a pass.

Just because he wants to play doesnt mean his contract doesnt give us the option. I hope so anyway.

Even if wells plays 12 games, if he gets injured in the middle of two of them then he potentially costs us 2 games. Stick a fork in him

With Pickers speaking like that, it definitely implies the ball is in Wells court and not ours. Which I must say, it absolutely jaw dropping. To sign Daniel Wells up and not put in place a bunch of triggers and get out of jail cards is mind blowing to me.

Contracted:

1. Crocker: has 1 more year, inexplicably
2. Wills: 1 more year
3. Reid: re-signed 6 week’s ago for 1 more year: staggering
4. Lynch: re-signed 6 week’s ago for 1 more year: handy back up

In trouble:

5. Fasolo: free agent, would love to get back into 2nd round of draft
6. Oxley: out of favour and unlikely to be retained
7. Blair: time
8. Goldsack: May be squeezed out
9. Broomhead: in favour of rookie listing him for 2019. Thomas’ development this year hurts his prospects
10. Magden: likely to be squeezed out

Interesting decisions:

10. Wells: hopefully he had a games trigger, needs to retire
11 Greenwood: has a lot of fans on Nick’s but his $450,000 wage should be halved if retained.
12. Appleby: limited ability despite shutting down small forwards, I’d let go

Automatic:

13. Mihocek: to be upgraded

Make room:

14. Quaynor: likely to be selected
15. W. Kelly: likely to be taken father/son

Strange one to mention. Will be at the club for a long while yet

Agree. Murphy and T Brown haven’t played seniors yet and everyone seems happy with their development.
Appleby was good enough to hold his own on most occasions amongst his several AFL games. That ain’t a bad start for a 19 year old rookie elevation.
I heard from his TAC days, he is very diligent and hard working on the track too. We haven’t seen the last of him by a long way.

If he plays just 4 games and one of them is a flag I'd say that will do.

What's even more mind blowing is that we felt the need to pay overs for a player that literally no other club was chasing. I can understand if there was competition for his services but his career was almost over. I have no idea why we had to pay him that much.

^^^

Wells lost me when he fronted up to his first preseason at the club totally out of shape and under prepared for the season ahead. That’s the equal of fronting up on the first day of your new job with the worst hangover of your life. You just don’t do it.
North track watchers will tell you he has long had an allergic reaction to gymnasiums and witches hats.
I hope we cut our losses at the end of this season. This one is a bust.

Press at the time had Norf offering him 2 years and it was the 3rd year that got him to us.

With the new CBA category A rookies can play seniors without being elevated (cf category B, eg Magden). It would be odd list management to promote Mihocek when we can keep him on the rookie list next year and still have him play seniors especially when we presumably have our eyes on using first rounder and picking up Quaynor and Kelly in draft, requiring at least 3 players to be traded/delisted.
