Yep, a great servant, but it's past him (30 next year) now.
We should be looking at drafting some Key defenders to develop with our existing pool of youngsters that are blossoming. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Time has past him. Injuries and too quick to fall over, leaving us exposed.
Tone of the post is unnecessarily disrespectful though.

He's still handy depth but just like 2010 the younger brigade pushing through feel like the better option.
With players now returning from injury will we see the likes of Mayne, Greenwood and Varcoe sidelined also by younger variants? _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

I think Reid has a shot at getting back in the side (depending on injuries). I also think that Mayne, Greenwood and Varcoe have a spot until we have a better replacement.
the better question is who of these types of players gets to play next season..
Mayne, Reid, Wells and Crocker i think all stay because they are contracted.
I'd try and keep Varcoe and Greenwood on sensible contracts. I think they'll keep Goldsack if he wants to stay on (especially if he performs a miracle and contributes anything other than a farewell game this season).
I would chop Wills, Blair, Smith, Fasolo, Broomhead and Kirby. No one really knows the Wells situation, but i suspect we would have heard about his retirement if he wasnt fully guaranteed for next year.
I wonder if we have given any thought to trading Wells and a desirable draft pick or player to a team that is rebuilding and can absorb the salary this year. That way, we get the salary off our books and the other team basically gets a good young player in exchange merely of absorbing some of our salary cap? This happens all of the time in the USA. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

sorry all - no disrespect meant - maybe he should be back at CHB if fit - i think he played better football there than up forward. Gives options to let Moore run riot around the ground . _________________ Toby for President |

i would love to see him go back. The question is whether he can cover ground and evolve into a back who can shut down an opponent. He never did that even in his peak. That was left to Brown. Brown might be handy to have on our list right now by the way....... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

^ As back-up or in the team? The year he left, he was offered a contract, you know? |

If Reid can get back to full fitness, I think our defence will be strongest with Reid at full back and Moore at centre half back. It could work, but Reid needs to get fit first.
Our defence is our weakest line at the moment. We need a full back to pair with Moore. Releasing Howe to an intercept player is going to help a lot as well. Much better in that role than Langdon. _________________ Well done boys! |

Reid was listed as 2-3 weeks before todays game.
How many weeks will he need in the VFL to get his match fitness?
Goldsack was also listed at 3-4 weeks before todays game.
It might sound silly, but could old heads Goldsack and Reid come in late and save our back 6 after the Dunn and Scharenberg injuries? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Scharenberg is infinitely more valuable to our team than we even know. No coincidence that our defense became a great strength this year the same year he became a permanent part of it.
Reid is a good footballer with a really good leg and pretty good one on one skills. He isn't and never was Nate Brown (lock down defender) but he is a smart player. Yet to see if he can get his body healthy.
I kind of feel like nothing really matters anymore (its over). Ahh, is that the reason we play that song.
Lose Treloar, Dunn, Scharenberg, Elliot, Reid, Goldsack and Aish, and nothing else matters..... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

All of a sudden, Reid becomes an important prospect as a result of Scharenberg's injury. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

More so Goldsack I'd suggest. |

Yeah, either Goldsack or Reid holding down full back (Tys can do it in today's AFL) really releases Moore and Howe to run havoc with intercept marking. Those two would create real headaches for any opponent. Just need that solid full back to allow it. _________________ Well done boys! |
