On Moore: Buckley says it was hamstring tightness. They are hoping it's similar to Cox last week, so Moore could be a chance to play. But, it is possible he has done some damage, scans will tell the story. _________________ Well done boys! |

Yeah, playing them twice is a bit of a pain in that regards. At least it's not the final round of the season. |

Public tickets for the Round 19 Richmond v’s Collingwood match have now sold out.
The injury room ~ Moore had scans for hamstring tightness post pulling out of the Kangas match pre-game, so no change here…scans all clear and expected to participate in full training. Goldy has resumed full training. Aish, Blair, Elliott & Fasolo performed well in the 2’s. Treloar’s hammy is making solid progress and back to running. Ben Reid expected to be right by Round 20.
There was some wild media speculation by a couple of click-bait media hacks about Sidey having sustained a cracked jaw against North. Was complete malarkey.
So, the Tigers this week. Last time Collingwood led at stages in each of the first three quarters, and as late as the 22-minute mark of the third term. From half-time, Richmond lead 21-9 in first possession wins at stoppages, 16-11 in clearances and 21-7 in scores from stoppages. From there the Tigers piled on the next five goals.
I blame the 4 day break post ANZAC day and losing Aish early in the third term with a left knee injury and took no further part (PCL), Reid (Achilles – although that was late in 4th qtr - he had a team-high seven score involvements including two goals), then Maynard (ankle a minute in the 4th qtr).
Tom Langdon was a late withdrawal.
We laid 69 tackles to their 47 so endeavour was evident. Reckon we need to get that to 80 Saturday and smash them.
This time we'll line up without Dunn, Reid, Treloar (had 42 possessions Rd6), Brown, Aish, Blair, Appleby.
Our bottom 6 against their bottom 6 will be decisive. I reckon we've got the edge here. This includes Greenwood. Give him the tag on Dusty.
Daicos had a good game against the Roos and is playing an Aish like outside runners role. I suspect he'll be the one to come out if Billy is considered match fit. If Billy resumes his spot in the pocket, it'll give us the option to release Thomas onto the ball to match up against Prestia.
Those moves will give the Tigers more match-up headaches than Daicos, given he is an emerging player with 10 games.
Big games require the big guns.
Despite the outs on the injury list, I'm confident with our current mix, we'll be right in it Saturday, the West Coast loss may well have come at the right time.
My preferred line-up.
B: Langdon, Moore, Maynard
HB: Crisp, Howe, Scharenberg
C: Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Phillips
HF: JDG, Mihocek, WHE
F: Stephenson, Cox, Elliott
R: Grundy, Thomas, Adams
Int: Mayne, Sier, Greenwood, Varcoe
Out : Daicos, Murray
In : Elliott, Moore
Key match-ups :
Mids - Adams and Cotchin. Elliott coming into the forward line would allow Thomas to be released further up the ground along with Sidey to match up against Prestia and Ellis. Greenwood can rotate onto Dusty if he starts to cut us up.
Backs - Moore and Howe onto Jack, Shaz first crack at Caddy.
Fwds - Good luck keeping our forward six in check.
Going to be an absolute corker.

Shades of 2010 here. In that season, Geelong were the real threat, and they touched us up by 36 points in round 9. But we improved week on week after that, and had won every game between then and our next meeting in round 19 (only blemish was a draw with Melbourne). That night was a tight tussle, but our professional outfit ground out a comfortable win in the end, and I remember walking out of the 'G believing for the first time that we were the real deal that year.
Of course we had a much better backline that year, and as solid as Cox has been, he's no Cloke. We also had a way better run with injury that year, so I'm not expecting a repeat of history here. But good signs nevertheless and I await this weekend with anticipation. |

I read or heard that Tiggers are ranked really low for clearances. They pretty much concede the clearance and rely on their set up to pick off the possession coming out of the clearance and generate turnovers.
So it's not so much winning the clearance that's important, it's using it well coming out of the stoppages. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Yep spot on Stu.
You watch the amount of turnovers the opposition have directly from the initial clearance they win.
Pressure is piled on making that first clearance rushed and generally intercepted or brought to ground again.
Tiges have made it work well for them.
Not this Saturday.
Nope. We got em I rekon. _________________ Bring Back Tranquilli |

Yes, teams are working them out now. Giants defeated them by implementing a game plan that minimised the opportunities for Richmond to force turnovers. I thought we played a bit like Richmond against the kangaroos - we swarmed the North player with the ball and forced turnovers. It sure is a salivating contest to look forward to. Having said that, Richmond do it better than anyone else at the minute. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

i just dont get that at all. If we finish 4th and play Richmond at the G, how is that any different to finishing first (and Richmond 4th) and playing Richmond at the G? Top 4 have an equal path to glory. If you are a worthy premier, you gotta be able to play anywhere.
5th through 8th is also very doable if you are good enough now that there is a bye.
I think what you are really saying is, that in order for you to feel like we are a premiership chance, you feel we need to be able to beat our next 5 opponents (which is what it is going to take to finish top 2 by the way). That itself is not a bad observation. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |
