It's interesting to think that most of these guys have missed massive chunks of the season due to injury.
Maybe they do belong here at Collingwood.

Here's my theory.
Everyone hates Collingwood.
Now, it seems, everyone hates Gaff.
Offer him a 4 year deal and bring him home.

Luke Dahlhaus has walked out on the Bulldogs. Expected to go to Geelong.
Gaff is also expected to stay with West Coast.

2. Andrew Gaff.
26 years old, 182 cm, Midfield.

Doesnt fill a desperate need on the list, but imagine he and Phillips on either wing. WCE wont be losing both he and McGovern, but will they be able to keep both? TBH, I think he's a realistic target if we cannot get the KPP we want. But clubs like Melbourne will also be having a sniff.
Expected to stay with West Coast.
3. Luke Dahlhaus.
25 years old, 177cm, Midfield.
Premiership player.
Again, Luke doesn't fit a desperate need on the list, but he's an interesting option none the less. Started off as a goal kicking mid, but is playing more defensively in 2018. Imagine he, instead of Crocker in the side right now. Flying a bit under the radar as far as rumours go. Contract talks on hold.
Has walked out. But expected to sign with Geelong.

4. Tom Liberatore
26 years old, 182 cm, Midfield.
Premiership player, B&F winner.
Tom was in great form until injury struck. A bit of a wild card as far as behaviour goes, but the knee will also put a lot of clubs off. The obvious family ties to the club will probably keep him there, but the Dogs have been known to voice their frustrations with Tom in the past. I dont know how much interest we'd have, but I remember hearing interest from Essendon before his injury. I think he'll stay now.
Expected to stay with the Bulldogs.
5. Mitch Wallis
25 years old, 185 cm, Midfield.
Another Dogs farther-son thats been linked to an Essendon move. Missed out on the 2016 flag. Again, I dont think we'll show much interest, but he can win a hard ball. Had injury troubles, and been in and out of the team, but has found some ok form now. He's kicking goals too.
Expected to stay with Bulldogs after interest from Essendon.
After that, there isnt much to look at. Will we land one of our targets? Will we look at a cheaper player like Dahlhaus? |
Looks like we wont be taking on any free agents, unless one of the delisted mob takes our eye?

Well they have a bottomless salary cap, why wouldn't you go there?

Not much to see, but Wallis has stayed with the Dogs. Dont think he was a high priority for the other clubs, with earlier links to Essendon.
The 4 "big" names left now are:
Lynch (Expected to go to Richmond)
Gaff (Undecided on his future. Seems either WCE/North at this stage)
Dahlhaus (Expected to be a Cat)
Liberatore (Expected to stay a Dog)
Is it possible (or stupid to think) that we could make a play for Gaff?

If the May thing falls over, then why not?
Even if it is for no other reason than to artificially inflate his contract value, and blow out another team's salary cap for a change...

I cant imagine Gaff coming to Collingwood now, after his current team in playing us in the GF.
I'll say he stays at WCE, with a slight chance he goes to North.
This pretty much means we wont be bringing in a FA this year, so we'll get to keep any compo picks if anyone leaves us via FA. (Fasolo).
