There's little doubt that if the Rising Star were to be awarded now, then Jaidyn Stephenson would win it. But will he win it ultimately?

He had a quiet game yesterday, as did most of the rest of the team. I'm wondering if he needs a week off, to freshen up. In the meantime players like Cerra are being noticed. We've never had a Rising Star winner. Bucks won it but he wasn't with us when he won it.

Go Jaidyn!!!

The good news is that if he’s getting tired, then so are the other nominees.

The winner will depend on how the judges view the nominees impact and the degree of difficulty of their position. Stephenson has played as deep forward all year and has been brilliant but Cerra has played HB and relieved in midfield in a crap team that’s been under a lot of pressure.
Raynor has looked comfortable both up forward and in the middle.
Doodee has been very consistent but is in his second year and generally plays as the drop off defender.
Florent is the other one. He has had a really solid year and has played midfield all year for them.
I have no doubt Stephenson has more tricks than the others but I’m not sure if that’s part of the voting criteria.
I would probably take the Stephenson / Florent double right now.

Doedee has had a very good last 2 weeks (high possession games), whilst Stevo hasn't. Stevo was good early against Essendon, but did nothing against Eagles. Given that possessions seem to be the stat that matters most to those that don't watch every game (that's how they form their uninformed opinion), I think that (wrongly) Doedee is probably the frontrunner.

The last time there was talk on here of him needing a rest he came out and kicked five against Adelaide. Let’s hope it happens again.

Jono Brown doing his best to discredit JS because he plays for the big club. If thats the case Jono, then why haven't we had a winner yet?

They were making a case for Ronke.

But JS is clearly the front runner. It'll be a bigger robbery than Daniher winning mark of the year last year.

A 3 goal day for Stephenson puts him further in front.

What if it was a public vote?

I'll be surprised if Stevo wins it, because of last year's Howe debacle. Not because of the public voting, but simply because we seem to be ignored with these things. If Stevo played for the Dogs, Saints or North he would win in a landslide.

I would the Howe thing might go in his favour. Let's see how Doedee and Florent finish things off. Florent was reasonable again today.
Doedee has been very good but is in his third season. This goes in Jaidyn's favour I think.

He’s home surely. Kicking two is now an average game for him cos he’s set the bar so high.

Out of Stevo and Doedee. Hope Stevo wins it as it would be highly deserved.

Speaking of the Rising Star, Daicos may receive a nomination this week.

Quiet one for Doedee tonight too helps. Concussion may see him miss.
I also think the Stephenson story, with his heart condition, may add to the romance of him winning the RS.

The Heart Condition would help sell him to the Media and Voters
