I had a read of that. Short on substance, long on scare.

If all the ice on earth melted, sea level would rise by 70 metres. That would take a significant temperature increase. Keep in mind that during the last ice age sea level was up to 100 metres lower than now. The Tiwi and Melville Islands were only separated from the mainland around 5000 years ago. Pretty much the same time period during which all civilisation grew, including those we consider ancient history.

The other thing is, as I alluded to in the OP, the Earth has been in a cycle of ice age for 90%, warm period for 10% for millions of years. This has been influenced by factors outside of our control including planetary rotation, sun activity etc.

We are on the cusp of a cooling cycle that we have little to no control over. The amount of greenhouse gases we put into the air may or may not delay this by a thousand years or so.

You make an interesting point. We don't know, the long term is unknowable and the best we can do is look at the past and hope that similar starting conditions will lead to similar results.

I'm more concerned about the 32 degree Siberian summer, the 48 degree Portuguese heatwave, etc, which are things that are definitely happening now, not might be happening at some stage in the future.

I noticed the serious spike in temperatures back in 2014. Since then we're pretty much on track, which is great because 'I told you so' is so much fun. Not looking forward to the global depopulation though.

If not global warming what’s causing the glaciers to shrink so fast?

The melting temperature of ice is dropping. Nothing to do with global warming.
