It is now certain that we are a very well coached side. The true test is how you perform with first choice players out. Does the game plan still stand up? In our case it absolutely has.

We have been well coached this year and crap coaching the last 6.
It is a simple as that.

Nah..

Weve always been well coached.
Its just finally coming together.

And we are playing for each other.
We are this year, a team.

Go Pies. You good friggin things you.

I could just say scoreboard.
But you can't fault this year coaching.
Even during the dark days of the last few years
Most players didn't mind Buckley.
He lost one or 2 players but he never lost the playing group as such.
He lost me for quite a while.
But you have to give him credit at this point in time.

An enduring image from today will be the absolute roar that Tay Adams let forth when he kicked that goal in the last quarter, then so many players getting around him to say well done. Smells like team spirit to me!!

Yep, credit to Bucks, to the whole coaching team and above all, to the players.

I was really worried about Mihocek not going back, as Howie was our really our only "tall" defender down there, but as usual, I know little and the coaching team know far more. Wink

Mihocek actually should have taken a couple more contested marks, but was spoilt by Cox crashing the pack. I can remember 2 occasions when it looked like he had it only to have Cox crash the pack and spoil him.

Agreed....

Pendles was playing pretty well without being outstanding in the first three quarters....

But in the last qtr he was simply everywhere that mattered.

Been following the pies for 45 years... he is my all time favorite.... and considering the competition that is a big compliment.

This was a real danger game esepcially after losing two significant players over the last two weeks. The boys stood up in the last quarter and sealed the game. Cox, Sudebottom, Pendles and DeGoey in particular were fantastic in that last quarter. Memorable moments were the centre clearance and kick to advantage by Pendles that resulted in a DeGoey goal and the candy and goal from outside 50 by Sidebottom.

Well I must admit I was wrong. I genuinely thought we would win by 30+. I think if WHE wasn't injured we would have.... Wink

What a gutsy win right there. We looked gone early in the last qtr. The Dons were running hard and linking up well but we defended them strongly inside D50 and counter attacked very well. We were just a bit cleaner at the death. Goals from De Goey, Sidey & Cox were huge. Grundy was a beast all day as always and Pendles in the last was amazing. All our leader stepped up when needed. We just find ways to win now which is a sign of a very good team. Unfortunately these injuries just keep mounting and I fear at some point probably in September it is going to all come home to roost, but time will tell. Very proud of the effort today, one of the best wins for the season.

What made the win all the more impressive was that we did it with quite a few players down a bit I thought. Thomas, Sier, WHE, Phillips & Crocker for various reasons can be a lot better. But I suppose the full 22 all can't be on fire every week. We seem to be able to cover each other when some are down, another great sign.

Memorable win and one for the ages. The way our leaders stood up in the final quarter was something I haven't seen in years.

Pendlebury, Sidebottom and De Goey killed the Bombers in the final quarter. Grundy was his usual dominant itself and even though it hasn't translated on the scoreboard, Cox was crucial in the final quarter.

We started well, but Essendon were the better team in the second and third quarter. I felt the momentum started shifting in the latter stages of the third quarter (barring Howe's turnover which led to an Essendon goal), and then we were all over them in the final quarter.

Our bad luck with injuries continue. Not sure of the extent of WHE and Appleby's injuries, but we really need the likes of Moore, Elliott and Varcoe to comeback soon.

It's been four hours, and I still can't wipe the smile off my face.

Great win by the lads today. Gotta admit that I've been more hopeful than optimistic this last year or so but this squad is finding new and impressive ways to surprise me.

We were fitter, stronger and better than the Dons today and that's with half our VFL side in. Not sure it's the good half either.

Proud of the boys. Go Pies!

Er, not that I’m out to bash Langdon but didn’t he start on Brown who kicked their first two goals. Not sure when Langdon swapped over though.
Just watching back, Maynard did go to Brown also.
There were obviously a lot of handovers when all our defenders are hybrid flankers.

No, he didn’t.
