Should we comment in this thread, or is it better to reserve it simply for the schedule and results, saving comments for separate threads?

Err... I'll quote this here for starters, and depending on the answer to the above question I can always edit it and transfer it elsewhere...

"It is a fine line, a slender margin.

It is particularly precarious now, in what the Premier League has become: a two-tier competition in which, every week, six elite teams demonstrate their superiority over what are in theory their peers, but their pawns in practice. The pace that Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur — in third, just six points off the lead — have set this year has been historic.

Last season City became the first ever side to pick up 100 points in a season. Both Guardiola’s team and Klopp’s side could reach that mark this year. Both win so remorselessly that what would qualify in ordinary circumstances as a perfectly acceptable, even praiseworthy, result — say, drawing away from home against a team pushing for a European place — may instead be a knockout blow.
...

City has the head-to-head advantage, winning here and drawing in autumn at Liverpool’s Anfield. Narrow or not, it can regard itself as the better of the two teams.

That, though, is not what will decide the title."

'Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed claims he ordered the grass to be grown longer at the Etihad Stadium ahead of last week's 2-1 win over Liverpool...

"I am not the groundskeeper," Guardiola said on Tuesday.

"I never did. If Liverpool want to play quick, we want to play quicker. Never we manipulated it..." '

'Pep Guardiola refused to give up on the Premier League title race despite potentially losing further ground on leaders Liverpool following their shock 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United.
...

"We are in January and there's a lot of time," Guardiola told a news conference. "But of course when you are behind the leader you cannot afford to drop points because you helped them.

"Every game is one less, but we are in January and we have lots of trophies and a lot of games to play." '

But

"... Liverpool failed to take full advantage of Manchester City's slip-up at Newcastle United as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City on Wednesday.

Juergen Klopp's side extended their lead over City to five points but after their rivals suffered a 2-1 loss on Tuesday, Liverpool will be disappointed not to have pulled seven points clear."
